I am reminded of the opening of (the NSFW, but rude and funny) Hellsing Ultimate Abridged (anime) which also poked fun at the Twilight series.
Seriously, Dracula has been done to undeath.

Figures. Moffatt was at the LA Dr Who con a couple years ago and said at a panel that those of us who disagreed with the casting of a female Doctor needed to get over it.
I wont get over it, and will never watch Dr. 13. Im sure that the Doctor after that will be a person of color if the show survives that long.

And once again I ask where has creativity gone?
You want a heroine? Fine. Come up with one!
This "men with breasts" trend is an insult to men and women.

Mark Gatiss’ scripts ruined Sherlock.
He’s a terrible writer.

I am sure that the revisionist version will take matters to an extreme in tastelessness. Nevertheless, there is nothing new under the sun. The original 1931 Dracula adaptation with Bela Lugosi (as opposed to the thinly disguised German silent “Nosferatu” which was not an authorized adaptation) included the vampire’s attack on Renfield. Numerous memos circulated at Universal studios objecting to the scene being homoerotic and suggesting that “Dracula” must only go for women.
The memo made no difference. The scene stayed put and was important to the narrative of the movie.

As long as Kate Beckinsale is still a vampire wrapped in skin tight leather outfits, I will watch it once when it finally gets to Basic Cable.

The British television show Strictly Come Dancing had 2 guys dancing together on their results show last night, at least the second time they've done that. Their format is copied around the world (the American version is called Dancing With The Stars) so they act as a test market for conditioning audiences to accept same sex dancing. So far they have resisted calls for a same sex celebrity/pro hookup for the competition but I wouldn't be surprised to see it happen soon.

Stupid. By definition vampires are not human and thus asexual.
Wtf is wrong with people trying to put their human possessed naval centered selves into every topic.

This looks pretty stupid; however, I always thought it odd that there seemed to be some sexual confusion in the old Dracula movies: Dracula's attacks on the women had definite sexual/seduction overtones, and when he went after the men something didn't quite work.
Hollywood's "improvements" on classics never work.
This was rampant back in the 1930s and '40s, when there was no attempt at any kind of authenticity, and Hollywood cranked out butcher-jobs, like that Greer Garson shouldabeen-aborted Pride and Prejudice, where arch-meanie Lady Catherine de Bourgh was just a sweet old lady who wanted to make sure her nephew was happy.
Hollywood's recent hack-up of The Scarlet Letter was in the same vacuous tradition.
Transgendering Van Helsing into a woman appears to be following suit.

Didn't that already happen? Syfy's Van Helsing is a woman, supposedly a descendant of the fictional character.

And apparently Syfy is making their Van Helsing lesbian - or at least flirting with lesbianism.

So now that the show is available on Netflix, I started watching it last night. Im only one episode in but it is pretty cringey. Not only is Van Helsing a woman but she is a complete Mary Sue. And of course, she acts like a modern-day , snarky, 21st-century feminist rather than a 19th century female. Which completely takes you out of the story. Was just wondering if anyone else started watching this and what they thought.
