Know a women who has a very rare genetic syndrome where she went deaf as a child and now in her early 60’s is she has a severe loss of side vision. Her service dog is amazing!!
With his harness on nothing distracts him. When walking with her he seems to read her hand pressure on his lead whether to slow down or speed up and when to turn. When she sits down, he intently stares at her with absolute concentration.
I’ve never seen anything like it!!! I don’t think I’ve ever seen a human this disciplined.
She said when she takes off his harness he turns into a playful pup!! Absolutely amazing.
He’s only able to work for 3 years. She said there is no way her family can give him up after his retirement. They would be honored to give a loving home for all his days.
By any chance, one of them wouldn’t have happened to be named,” Indiana”?
Amazing
I’ve been a volunteer at Walter Reed since Desert Storm. Started out on the amputation ward. (That was tough.) Seen a lot of service dogs like this. But this woman’s dog was beyond belief!
Life ain’t worth living without a dog.
Just got a brand new puppy . She has super energy And I’m pooped. It’s worth it.

Canine Archaeologists Sniff Out 3,000-Year-Old Graves in Croatia
I remember a number of years ago in Miami they did a carbon date experiment on a dog that had recently died; it yielded the result of 80,000 years old. No way of knowing if it might have been around in Croatia 3,000 years ago.
No you didn’t. The radiocarbon dating limit is about 50,000 years.
In Miami though... must have dogpaddled to get to Croatia.
It’s at leash worth thinkin’ about.
I’ve heard dogs can detect cancer. Wonderful creatures! I miss my furry baby boy.
Obviously the test was flawed - perhaps also my memory. Whenever I relate the story about the dog being xx,000 years old I point out, 'No wonder it died!'

Since cats had a navy I thought perhaps dogs did also, maybe even an air force. 😇
Viking kittles... imagine how hard it was to get an errant cat to walk the plank....
