I bought an older PC with 10 installed for about $100, will only be using it for online transactions that need to be secure (with updates). Otherwise, when it comes to MS for un-secure doings, I’m sticking with Win 7.

I may end up doing something similar, although I will probably get a new PC with Win 10 in the belief that I would eventually transition the software I use on the Win 7 PC over to it.

What I'm noticing right now is Dell is not discounting their PCs very much. I suspect they realize a lot of users are going to need/want to move to Win 10 soon, so the discounts are pretty thin ($50 off of a $1,100 PC is one example - normally, you would see $200-300 off as a deal).

I'm pretty much on the same page as you, except I'm keeping Win 7 on a separate PC mostly for offline things such viewing media, working on video/graphics/audio.

Win 10 is just not as flexible, MS should have stopped at Win7 and just kept doing improvements that didn't mess up what already works just fine.
Here's the deal I got on the cheap for Win 10, suits my purposes for online use:

I bought my Dell on HSN shopping network...They have specials at times.
I have no problems with Windows 10.
