Hey Shep, et al: Are we supposed to declare war on one ally to protect another?

Should the POTUS ask the congress to declare war on NATO partner Turkey? That could get real ugly, real quick.

The dirty secret is how the Kurds have themselves been ethnically cleansing these areas.

To prepare for a Kurdish ethno state.

They have killed and removed the Christians in the area...

If the DOD would have smartly obeyed Trump’s order a year ago to leave Syria, this situation may not exist at all. DOD and CIA played a lot of administrative games and changed nothing. Our planes still illegally prowl Syrian skies, we now call our soldiers “trainers”, “advisors”, etc.

And now we have this. Had the military actually followed orders, the Kurds would have had to come to an agreement with Assad, and/or Erdogan, or launch a new war in our absence... and this wouldn’t be a problem.

DOD wrecking, sabotage, gold-bricking, and sophistry when given a direct order is the root of this.

By the way, anybody else notice that our President is not really in full control of the DOD and CIA and FBI?

There is a term for that....

Last time we got in bed with commies was WWII. Didn’t work out so well.

Last time we got in bed with Muslims it was the Taliban vs the Soviets. That too had some teensy issues.

Now we want to get in bed with commie Muslims? That will work out just great. Ask any CIA anal-ist.

Unless you want to take on Turkey, Iraq, Iran and Syria to carve out a country for the Kurds, there’s no reason for us to remain there.

Re: "Trump needs to say that if Turkey stays in NATO, we will quit and form bilateral treaties with any European partner we can."

Thanks for your very positive Comment.

I was expecting to get instantly attacked for not supporting Recep Erdogan.

Of course, there is still plenty of time for that to happen.

For the globalist war mongers the solution to this dilemma is simple: We cannot declare war on a NATO ally to protect a non-NATO ally so obviously we need to withdraw from NATO and then we can go into the ruinous war with Turkey that they want.

Of course having us withdraw from NATO would make their heads explode so it's a real problem for them. I guess Trump's solution will have to do.

Actually, the really weird part is that they aren’t even Syrian rebels. Squeezed between ISIS, Turkey, Al Qaeda and Assad, they’ve aligned with Assad. They received our military assistance in liberating their cities. The Russian assistance they received was much more helpful to them. The best that can be said for their allegiance is that because Al Qaeda, Turkey and ISIS all threatened to commit genocide against them, we could confidently assist them knowing the weapons wouldn’t end up going to Al Qaeda and ISIS... like EVERY OTHER “ALLY” DID.

I've been bringing this up for years. Turkey is a NATO ally. When Kurds attack inside Turkey, we're supposed to defend Turkey. I think if Turkey does the attacking, we don't have to support them. The only answer that might work is if the Kurds are granted a nation, the northern third of Iraq. The problem is Western map-making mischief over the past 100 years. There is no Kurdistan, and Saudi Arabia and Israel were established. Both of those nations want to extend their power and territory and they benefit from chaos engulfing their neighbors. From the sound of things, we've supported some folks who are allies by day and do their own thing in their free time.

And now in the US we have everyone wanting us to return to war without realizing President Trump just might have had a plan if they had just shut up.

Simpler to turn the is is camps and all those supporters into smoking holes (get our Kurds and troops clear first).

Just sayin, big swatches of land suddenly disappear just before the column gets there, presumably taking the forces the column was trying to rescue from durance vile? Nice picture.

Turkey is a noto ally the way the un is about individual liberty.

As if 90% of Europe are truly allied. 60,000 ISIS fighters and families who came from Europe captured and they wont take them back. They expect Uncle Sugar to take care of it again for them. Nee, Nope, No, Nein, Não, Niet, Non, Nahi. Ez, Nej, Nei, and in Zulu Cha. What about that don’t they understand. So Erdogan is going to take care of it.

There should be no declaration of war against Turkey at this point. There are other ways to help friendlies in that area of operations. Sanctions against Turkey might be wise along with continued efforts to isolate Iran.

We’ve lost 8 U.S. servicemen in the Syrian Civil War, 6 of those losses related to combat.

Does congress even need to ask the President if they want to declare war on some party?
