Apples iOS 13 comes with some major changes to privacy and security, but its also highlighted the data collection practices of firms such as Facebook and Google.
One of the first things you might notice when using Apples iOS 13 is a notification when opening an app such as Facebook asking for Bluetooth permission.
Sure, some apps need access to Bluetooth to work properly. Take, for example the Fitbit smartwatch. But others use Bluetooth to stealthily track peoples location using beacons dotted around in cities and shopping areas.
The Verges Chris Welch wrote a useful article including more detail on apps that need Bluetooth. He points out that many iPhone users will assume they need to grant Bluetooth permission for their music apps to work with Bluetooth headphones or speakers. Not so: Bluetooth audio is handled through your system settings, separately from your apps.
Location settings
Today In: Innovation Another major change in iOS 13, which relates to location settings, could affect firms such as Google and Facebook significantly. Apples updated operating system will now show you how often your location has been recorded and by which apps. It will do this proactively via a pop up, which shows a map of where you have been tracked, including the option to allow or limit it.
Previously, many apps were able to track you in the background without your knowledge. They were able to collect vast amounts of data on you, which they could use to target you with advertising.

If you want on or off the Apple/Mac/iOS Ping List, Freepmail me.
Thanks to Zeugma for the heads-up.
Apple’s plan that people would pay for privacy (not security) has failed.
They should move on.
What took them so long?
Since day one, the custom (de-G**gled) Android ROMS (LineageOS, AOKP, Oxygen OS, Paranoid Android, et al) have offered the ability to deny location information to any and all apps.
Plus with Android Firewall (AFW), you can deny each app individually the ability to communicate with with the rest of the world.
Im not sure you understand the article. Apple is giving its users the ability to know when they are being tracked along with the additional ability to block that tracking. Thats good news for the users and bad news for Google and Facebook (and similar apps) which I consider to be bad actors.

People just don’t care about privacy

I updated yesterday. Now my iPhone 7s touch screen is REALLY sensitive.
Any idea how to control and/or delete cookies on iOS? Makes me crazy that you have to wipe history to kill one cookie (unless Im missing something)
Its a free upgrade
Hey doofus. Its a free upgrade. As most upgrades are with Apple
STEP 1: Go to the Settings app and tap Safari.
STEP 2: Scroll down and tap Advanced.
STEP 3: Tap on Edit. All the websites whose caches are stored in your device will be displayed.
STEP 4: Tap on the red minus icon for the website whose cookies you want to delete and then tap Delete.
This allows you to select cookies to delete.
Weve been able to do that for a long time in iOS. But its been learned that even with apps denied the ability, or for apps with various abilities for certain things, they sometimes have background stuff that doesnt play by those rules and go around those lockouts. They exist on Android too to a greater extent than on iOS. This monitors that at the system level and alerts the user when it occurs. Google and Facebook have been notorious for finding ways to hide such background things in their ads regardless of where they show up. For example in ad supported "free" apps that may have been denied access to various functions yet suddenly that app is accessing your location and wants to transmit it and other data somewhere. Could have been a Google or other third-party ad. Now youll receive an alert before it can do it.
IDK and I don’t care LOL!
Apple spent a lot of money to conflate privscy sand security.
It was a loss for them.
Genius, thank you. I flippin hate these trackers and spies.
STEP 3B: Use the search bar at the top of the screen to attempt to find the items you want to delete.
But then the app won’t work without it all turned on. And “I would just die without my Farmville!”. The users are their own worst enemy, they just can’t live without these apps that make them ignorant.
