John Graves lived on this property when he writing his novels.
He tended a vineyard and made his own wine.
In the crawl space were 17 cases of his wine, bottles on their sides. The rodents chewed the corks for the wine to drip out and drink.
The more fancy bottles had screw caps that corroded out and leaked out for the critters to drink. They also had chew marks.

Hillary and Cherokee Princess Grey Beaver are advised to avoid he downtown area,
Where is PETA in all this?
It works for snails...attract them with beer and they drown in it. Less messy than stepping on them.
Well played indeed.
I still think the best answer is to import some of those big unwanted snakes that Florida is trying to get rid of. Turn them loose in the sewers.
I think that is unlikely .
They can try, but typically the word gets out pretty quick and traps lose their effectiveness.
Nice trap. These days they put a ‘bittering agent’ in anti-freeze to keep pets from being attracted to it. Your concept still may work, though, if the smell hasn’t been altered much (not sure on that).
