I wonder if anyone heard further from Dave Mackey, who posted video of the waters rising to the deck of his house. A link to it was posted on the live thread.

Why can’t they report the deaths?

I guess cause authorities are only reporting about 5 deaths. Don't want to scare away the tourists and home buyers.

Just the removal of all the destroyed infrastructure, vehicles and boats is going to take a Herculean effort. It’ll be Hurricane Season 2020 by the time that place becomes barely inhabitable enough for the surviving population to return and rebound.

Japan has one of the highest police to population ratios in the world and also one of the lowest crime rates. There may be a relationship.

Bingo. Diversity breeds separatism. Leftists know this and play the divide and conquer game accordingly with high immigration, both legal and illegal. It will be interesting to see how long support for the ‘welfare state’ lasts in Norway, Sweden, et al in the face of raping, polygamous muslims.

Nothing but toothpicks. One would think they’d build sturdier structures. One foot concrete walls would have stood a better chance than wood.

Yeah, that's what got me. The Weather Channel said that they get hit once about every four years. With those kinds of odds, you'd think they build stronger homes. Granted they are poorer, but priorities should be set.

Samaritan’s Purse, which truly serves the Lord by helping victims of disasters, has set up shop in the devastated portions of the Bahamas, so feel free to donate to them. You can even specifically direct the donation to hurricane relief, as I did.

Switzerland was relatively low crime in 1986, when I visited my Dad there, but they have at least four languages spoken there: French, German, Italian and a little-known one called Romansh. But they took pride in being Swiss. What was one way of showing that pride? By not committing crimes.

(I don’t know if it’s the same now, however.)

"Looting, Panic, pillaging:
Baltimore"

Since hurricanes do most of their damage in coastal areas that tend to be upscale neighborhoods, I always wondered if looters from Baltimore, or DC head south when they hear the news of an impending storm.

"“These sorts of events remind me of the Calm in Japan after that devastating Tsunami. None of this sort of thing went on. They seem to be oddly honorable over there. It’s a cultural thing.”

Japanese have a great culture but I think what is truly behind the phenomenon is that they are one people, ethnically, culturally, and linguistically, and have been for 2000 years and therefore have a higher level of trust in others.

=========================================

Correct! Emphasis added

This very basic fact is often overlooked when people here in our "multi-cultural" society wonder how countries like Japan...or even some of the Scandinavian countries, have low rates of crime...have high scores in school, etc and so forth.

Being 1 people, with a common/shared culture, history, primary language, etc. helps them reach those achievements in the modern world.

Diversity really isn't our strength. Diversity is increasingly dividing, creating distinct tribal rivalries.

They'd be FINE.

Back when, when the English speaking world believed in the old Anglo Saxon order, you know, queue up for the bus and read the Times, we would have been fine too. Now, well the pictures form Baltimore show what we have become.

Could be, there aren’t likely to be any telephone poles still standing in Abaco. Makes the whole article suspect.

Truly very few nonwhites

In light of that differing languages is inconsequential

It’s race race race
