I was brought often to that museum by my mother while I was growing up, and it was an important part of our Art History education at University of Chicago, so the images bring back fond memories for me.

1875-80, Berthe Morisot, French Woman at her Toilette

My vision was 20/600 so I always saw the world as French Impressionist by taking off my glasses. To me, they actually painted reality.

I’ve read that Van Gogh painted what he saw.

Thanks - lots of nice scenes there. I enjoy the snowy landscapes, also had never seen the portrait of a lady painter with a man beside her - who is that by?

Marie Cassatt is another great painter of that time and of that approach. She incorporated bright sunlight with minimal shadowing. Her emphasis was mainly on two dimensional chromatic design, contrasted with neutral backgrounds.

So different than someone like the great Maxfield Parrish, who excelled in both chromatic design and modeling of the figure. Maxfield’s emphasis was often one of scale and depth.

When my mom’s macular degeneration had gotten pretty bad she said the night sky looked just as Van Gogh depicted it in Starry Night.

I love Trump, too. He's pure art, in my art book.
