If a member of the public had done this with a legally owned gun, he would not be let off with just an apology.
Same rule for cops as for citizens.

something like this happened in Orlando FL a few years ago/
Police Chief left her weapon in her department vehicle. Got broken into and stolen.
Now the standard procedure for this seems to be instant termination. Or maybe some other severe penalty.
But this person was the right color; (or not the “wrong color”)
And her husband was County Sheriff.
Now this particular retired police chief is a US Congressperson.
Whoever said the law is color blind must have been blind from birth.

At least we can be grateful that Mr. Cantrell was using the men’s room.
When we give a person a gun and the power to use it against others along with power over their lives, that person must be held to a higher standard. That is not happening.
On a side note, what do these women have against actually looking like women?

The Prescott Valley (AZ) Police Chief lost his gun in November 2017 and it was never found.
He retired last month to apply for police chief of Ann Arbor MI. Don’t think he’ll get it.

Looking at the photos makes me suspect she may have taken it off and dropped it while faking it at a man’s urinal.

I’ve noticed that many police chiefs (not all, but many) like to wear the stars of a full general/admiral. Chief of police of San Luis Obispo—I wonder how many are under her command.
