The 18-month-old girl slipped from his arms and fell from the 11th floor of Royal Caribbean's Freedom of the Seas ship.
The child is believed to have fallen onto the concrete below while the ship was docked in San Juan, Puerto Rico.
The tot was rushed to hospital at around 4:30 p.m. local time yesterday.
According to the local Primer Hora website, the girl was from Indiana and on holiday with her parents and grandparents.
The girl's family have not yet been quizzed by detectives but police have said they believe the incident was a tragic accident.
"At one point, one of her grandparents... in an act of games, exposes the girl to the void and falls out of his hands."

As a small child I was dangled over the edge of a small water craft by a drunken brother while everyone else just laughed and thought it was so funny.
These idiots simply do not realize the danger of the kid being accidentally dropped. Another issue is instilling a life long fear of water or heights.
But people will be people, and have been dangling kids since kids were invented, and will keep doing so until until the world ends. You cannot fix stupid.
1st degree murder in Puerto Rico is 99 years without the possibility of parole. 2nd degree murder is 50 years without the possibility of parole. Either murder under extenuating circumstances (mental insanity, for example), 15 years without the possibility of parole. Negligent homicide (which it seems like this is), is a minimum sentence of 3 years, no parole, except if alcohol or drug impairment was involved, in which case it is 15 years without the possibility of parole.
Keel haul him. Eighteen times. Once for each month of that poor baby's life.

I saw a preliminary story yesterday. But to see here that the guy was dangling his grand-daughter ... I have no words.

Uncivilized humanity is actually not that great to look at. This stuff probably happens all the time in 2/3rds of the worlds population.
