This won’t survive first contact with JAG.

Oh gawd, more keto bs.

This won’t be the first time they experimented on soldiers, nor will it be the last.

When I was at basic, the word came down that the drill sergeants were to no longer perform “drill sergeant time” with recruits, that included “drop and give me 50.” The DS were to adhere strictly to prescribed physical training schedules created by bureaucrats.

Simultaneously, we were served shit food.

The result was predictable: Poor discipline and flabby recruits. I have no idea what they did later.

Keto is just going to make very, very unhappy soldiers. Retention will become a problem and no one needs to be a rocket scientist to figure that one out.

I thought that much protein led to some of it essentially being converted to carbs?

Just eating less of a crappy (highly processed, simple carbs) diet really isn’t such a great solution.

I think keto only makes sense for those who can’t make weight otherwise—or want to do it on their own.

However, a modified (e.g., optional dairy added) paleo diet does make a lot of sense for the rest of ‘em, including what is freely available at meals.

Greens are so good for you and filling too.

No reason not to come to love them. For those who don’t enjoy them regularly, they can be cooked with cheese or sausage or whatever added for flavor and satisfaction, more or less replacing the traditional role of starches in a lot of diets.

I’m a big proponent of Keto, but not necessarily for younger people.

I believe Keto is more for older adults, whose metabolism has slowed down, and frankly don’t need the carbs like they used to.

Approximation: “Any of you children call me ‘Grandpa,’ I’ll kill ya.”

BOL! When our sons were growing up they had friends who probably ate more meals here and spent more time here than they did at their homes. Then and now they still call us Mom and Dad.

Flash forward a few decades, and my wife and I would go pick up our grand kids on Wednesday after noon at their K-6 school about 45 miles away as it was an early out of class pm for them.

The younger one got out an hour before the older one. So we would meet him at the playground. He usually had about 5-6 friends waiting for their older siblings to get out of class.

That grew to about 12 kids in his class and half that many in his older sibling’s class.

My wife, who is an incredible reader would read a book for some, and I watched in/and participated in the use of the great swings and other outdoor stuff.

One day the principal came down, and I introduced my wife and my self to him. He said, “We know all about you. You and your wife are the adopted grandparents for these kids, thank you”

We became their grandparents for a few years.

Fasting, what a concept. :^) I actually don't eat more than two meals a day anyway, between work schedule and waking up late in the mornings. I just had a sliced up bratwurst-like hotdog in a Green Giant riced cauliflower with cheese steamer. It wasn't bad. That's a good thing, I've got three or so other varieties of it. May be a test market item, we get a lot of those in western Michigan (if it will sell here, it'll sell anywhere).

I believe only if your carb intake is really low, then you get glucogenesis.

LOL, nothing looks better on a 44 y/o man...

It is co-ed, and most girls are late 20’s, so I like that.

Sounds like the Obama holdovers are still in the DOD. Lets see how military suicide rates are affected.

Now they will all be too depressed to perform.

Well, alcohol can make the problems worse. Like when we banned it for combat troops, and haven't won the war.

Oh well. They can always call the Veteran's Crisis Hotline at 1-800-273-8255, and press one:

This is the Veteran's Crisis Hotline. If you have ever thought about killing or harming yourself, press one. If you have never thought about killing yourself and wish to know about all the others who have done so, press one. If you wish to kill yourself but need help choosing a means to do so, press one. To support bonuses for Veterans Administration employees, press two.

They’re publicizing this the same week they set an enlistment goal to get to 500,000 active duty ? Good luck with that. I would prefer the old ‘68 C-rats over that menu.

You get the ham and Lima beans. I'll take the Air Force 'rats with the tuna fish. And some freeze-dried ice cream from a LRRP ration packet. Yum!
