It seems we're having more extreme temperatures... Snow in June some places - deadly heat waves other places.

If liberals could give up on their insane 'conclusions' that are ALWAYS wrong...(Al Gore saying all ice caps would be melted by 2010 etc) and just allowed an unbiased calm look at what's happening... we might all be willing to take a step back. Then try to figure out what's happening. (for whatever it's worth, we HAVE had heatwaves before).

Southern France had a high of 114 degrees back in 1930.

I guess global warming has been around for years, but it sure it taking its time about melting those glaciers...

That is if my Lieutenant understood what your Colonel said you Captains want.

The way that guy delivered his lines was amazing.

Meh. Some of the black-asphalt rooftops down in Dallas TX get up past 150 before they put down the gravel, especially near the center on the larger buildings. I would imagine the temps are even higher on rooftops in Phoenix.

And anyway, how extensive is the data set for temps recorded on rooftops? And just how much relevance does this have to standard air temperature? Are red tile roofs somehow benchmarks for temperature measurement? Why not asphalt parking lots, or cement sidewalks, or marble tile, or any of a hundred other surfaces?

No one said that you weren’t welcome. Just don’t talk about your heat waves like the Parisians and the Weather Channel in apocalyptic ways. Just like when the Chicagoans brag about how cold it is, the people up in Manitoba would beg to differ. Same with “Super Storm Sandy.” In the old days, it was called a gale or nor’easter.

Years ago, while retrieving some equipment from the bed of my truck, my left arm touched the side of the bed. Ended up with severe burn to my forearm. 30 years later, still have the large scar. West TX gets pretty darn hot. Keep your truck in the shade if you can find it.

And if you painted it black it would be hotter.

Actually there have been extensive studies on membrane roof colors for buildings and the effects, if any, on temperature differentials. The conclusion was that color was insignificant in roof temperature. More importantly was material. I realize this is counterintuitive to most folks thinking that black will absorb while white would reflect the heat. Anyhow, that’s for buildings.

Good one. Is Paris burning?....seriously....I have survived a 114 degree day in my unventilated house with the power going out. I cannot imagine how hot it was on the roof. Bunch o’crybabies.

Technically speaking, I think this building carries the record for the hottest roof in France.

Too soon?

Today in NJ we had a high of 91 at 1pm. Humidity was around 60%. We frequently have normal temp ranges of between 90 to 98 degrees with humidity in the 70% range. It's the humidity that's the killer. Do you get much of that in Texas, humidity I mean?
