NORTH PORT, Fla. (WWSB) - Police in North Port say a woman was trying to get money out of an ATM when a man with a gun approached her. But her boyfriend, seeing the situation unfold, opened fire, striking the robber several times.
It happened shortly before 10:30 p.m. on Thursday. Police say a woman was at the ATM while her boyfriend waited in the car.
While she was at the machine, a man with a loaded handgun walked up to her. The woman's boyfriend, seeing what was happening, got out of the car and shot the robber several times.
The robber got into a waiting vehicle and the getaway driver fled the scene.
Officers rushed to the area following the shooting and located the getaway driver and robber at the Goodwill on Tamiami Trail, less than a mile away. The robber was flown to Sarasota Memorial Hospital's trauma center and is said to be recovering.
The woman's boyfriend later came to police headquarters to tell officers what happened. Police say his account was corroborated through witness accounts, surveillance, and admissions by the suspects.

He was shot several times and then went to the Goodwill store? Maybe he thought the Goodwill store was something else???
GOOD! Unfortunately, we will have to pay for the hospital visit. Too bad it didn’t die. But then we would have had to pay for the burial.

You can’t duplicate those circumstances at the range. I’d say hitting his target and not getting shot in the process is a great outcome.

And, of course...the next logical questions:
1) Why’d the guy shoot his girlfriend?
2) And, why’d she get in car with someone else and drive away?
3) Who got the cash?
If there was "gun control" (Democrat style), the boyfriend would not have had a gun, but the robber would have. THAT is the real-world truth about "gun control".

If the perp was smart he would have gone to college like his momma said, everybody knows it’s a gun free zone. Much safer.
Since we are playing the “if the perp was smarter...” game:
If he were smarter he would not need to go to college to know what a gun free zone is because he would have learned how to read a sign once he graduated from High School.
And since our perp was smarter he would have not been indoctrinated by leftist colleges and got a trade to make money thus keeping him busy to not want to go to a gun free zone. Thus saving him in tens of thousands of dollars in student loans.
And if our Congress critters were smarter, they would realize that gun free zones are like shooting at moving targets and ban them.
If only the perp were smarter...sigh.
So we are not supposed to live our lives because criminals are on the streets?
Screw that.
