As much as I dislike post-70s automobile styling, I instantly loved the retro VW Beetles, at least the first generation models (1997–2011) anyway, as they had the classic high VW Bug 'bubble top', as opposed to the subsequent models which had a noticeably flatter top (2011-present). They brought to mind a 'bug' that had been part-way stepped on.

Examples...

(2019 will be the final year)

Too bad it is based on the on one of the least reliable cars on the planet.

The transmissions were crap, VW quit making them.

Too bad the new Jeep Wrangler Gladiator is bigger than a Tacoma. There’s room for a smaller pickup, especially off-road.

In a regular bug, the engine is not in the front. In the bug pick-up, the engine is not in the rear. Where the heck is it?
Please don’t tell me it is behind the radiator...

I have a Honda Ridgeline, and we love it.

However in spite of promises by the sales reps, you can’t have skid plates installed to take it off road. That eliminated about 90% of my fly fishing sites. So, I would be interested in one of these:

“At just over 193 inches long, the Tarok is small enough to be powered by a 1.4-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with just 147 hp, but is equipped with a permanent all-wheel-drive system, a skid plate and has 9.6-inches of ground clearance, which is more than some full-size trucks.”
