She lost her footing and fell at Eagle Falls in Emerald Bay State Park, according to the North Tahoe Fire Protection District, which responded to the scene to recover her body.
This is a sad reminder to be cautious when taking selfies and other photos in dangerous areas, the fire department said in a Facebook post.
The falls, which is about 50-foot-tall, overlook Lake Tahoe.

RIP
Only 50 ft? I jumped off little outcroppings looking over Lake Travis higher than 50 ft (after the ants started climbing up my legs).
That’s when I learned the phrase “Oh Sh******t”, like one seen in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid when they jumped into the river down in South America,....was a natural response from the human psyche.
Let’s not think about the Mexican Cliff Divers.
Betting she was from India. Happens to them all the time out here. It’s either waterfalls or rogue waves at the beach.
More stupid people die from selfies than in mass shootings.
Yeah, the trick there is to land in the water. 50 feet onto the rocks below would have undesirable, yet predictable results.
East Asian my bet. Camera in hand.
where was her husband?
Come on, people—stop taking pictures of yourselves. Don’t let tech turn you into self-absorbed idiots!
You think he pushed her?
I haven’t seen that movie since it was released way back, but i think it was in the southwest us. Actually shot near Durango, CO.
As a teen, I jumped off bridges higher than 50 feet. There’s a huge difference between jumping 50 feet into water and falling 50 feet onto rock. Most 50 foot falls onto a hard surface are not survivable.
I believe that the Half Dome trail is now on a lottery system ... at least during the peak times of the year.
It’s the same old adage and that is “you cannot fix stupid!”
Telling her to back up, back up!
From the grave Darwin sighs.
Looks like a ride at a water park. A little bumpy maybe.
I know.
A family friend just suffered a loss of their father.
They had just spoken with him that morning. He was going out to clean leaves out of a the roof gutter. He always wore slippers around the house and on the ladder. Family insisted he wear shoes on the ladder. He put on shoes and climbed on the ladder leaning against the roof to clean out the leaves, with a friend assisting him. He asked the friend for a drink of water. Friend went into the kitchen to get some water, heard some noise, returned to find the father had fallen from the slipped ladder and had hit his head on a curb. Went into a coma, and died before his daughter could make it to the hospital.
