SYDNEY, Australia Scott Morrison, Australias conservative prime minister, scored a surprise victory in federal elections on Saturday, propelled by a populist wave the quiet Australians, he termed it resembling the force that has upended politics in the United States, Britain and beyond.
The win stunned Australian election analysts polls had pointed to a loss for Mr. Morrisons coalition for months. But in the end, the prime minister confounded expectations suggesting that the country was ready for a change in course after six years of tumultuous leadership under the conservative political coalition.
I have always believed in miracles, Mr. Morrison said at his victory party in Sydney, adding, Tonight is about every single Australian who depends on their government to put them first. And that is exactly what we are going to do.
The election had presented Australia, a vital American ally in the Asia-Pacific, with a crucial question: Would it remain on a rightward path and stick with a political coalition that promised economic stability, jobs and cuts to immigration or choose greater action on climate change and income inequality?

Australia First.
polls had pointed to a loss for Mr. Morrisons coalition for months
Correction:
Fake polls had been pushed in order to defeat Mr. Morrisons coalition for months
Oh good God when they describe the liberal agenda it’s preposterous. Climate change instead of economic prosperity.
Making Australia Great Again
Now, Sir, get them their guns back
Mister Mojo Risin’......
What is this even saying? It sounds like the conservatives were in power already and want to change to another conservative govt.
Go for them. I stumble upon some good conservative/real men videos from our mates down under lately.
Yep definately partly due to the Trump effect. People are finding the conservative voice on societal issues far more palatable than the anything goes morality of the left. People also really took to the jobs, lower taxes and sound ecomomic management mantra of Scott Morrison. For myself having a Christian man as Prime Minister means more than everything else combined.
Good for them.....
I’m very excited by this election, more than Brexit, more than Trump.
There’s a trend in all of these elections which has not gotten enough notice, and that is the defection of Labour voters in the UK, Democrats in the US, and now ALP voters in Oz, and especially in Queensland, who are moved by nationalism and who put nationalism ahead of trad Labour issues.
We have not seen a socially conservative + economically liberal movement since 1945. What has happened is that the leftist elites embrace of degeneracy and anti-whiteness is starting to bleed off their core voters.
What hasn’t happened (yet) is the emergence of a patriotic left-leaning party that loves the nation and also the social market.
But the fact that nationalism could break the back of the pomo left is very very promising. All it needs is leadership.
Yea, I don’t get that either.
I will never submit to a borderless, one-world government.
You say you want a revolution? Well, ya know...
I have not trusted polls for years. From here on in, I completely ignore them. Polls have the stench of deep state all about them.
Unique among major First World countries, Australia has compulsory voting.
The white working class which has been the backbone of Labour/Democrats/ALP is in favor of socialized medicine, restrictions on capital, and strong worker protections.
They have been willing (up to now) to put up with the promotion of degeneracy and immigration because the Tories/Republicans/Oz Coalition are their hereditary enemies.
This may be coming to an end.
Not sure if I am on board with that. Compulsory voting guarantees that every last moron must vote.
Thank you, but you did not address the two items.
