FAWN RIVER TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WOOD) A 9-year-old has been charged with murder in the shooting death of his mother near Sturgis.
The victim was identified in court records as Pauline Randol.
The boy, whose name 24 Hour News 8 is not using because of his age and the early stage of the case, has been arraigned on a count of open murder and a felony weapons charge.
"I want people to know that he's not a bad kid," the boy's sister, Harley Martin, told 24 Hour News 8 Wednesday. "He loved his mom. I don't want people to think he did not love his mom."

What is wrong with that kid?
If she knew he had mental/emotional issues & was afraid of him, why in the world did she have a rifle in the house?
“I want people to know that he’s not a bad kid,”
I’m sorry but that made me laugh.
Yeah, because good kids who love their mom shoot her to death......
Some children are beyond hope. I knew a woman who adopted a child from an abusive situation when he was around 7-8 years old.
All the good parenting did nothing for him. By then, he already was a psychopath, and he continued that behavior into adulthood.
But no one in the family expected him to hurt Randol, she said.
Just a little cognitive dissonance there. Sad for all involved.
I have a brother who was adopted. prostitute mom unknown dad. lots of abuse from the time he was born till the state stepped in. adoption can be dangerous for the family when the child is abused at an early age and that is my guess as to what happen to this kid. My bet is he is a real charming sociopath just like my brother. at this point if he is a sociopath the best we can hope for is that he is hospitalized till 18 in a psychiatric hospital and commits a crime while in state custody that keeps him in prison after words.
Funny how they say they’re not going to identify the kid, but they identify everyone else involved.
Randol adopted the boy about two years ago. Martin said he came from a troubled situation, saying his biological mother used meth during her pregnancy. She added the boy has a history of mental health issues, that he had “just recently started snapping” and that he was on a new medication.

The classic bad seed. They exist.
Its Damien.
Neighbor Joseph Lancaster said the boy had previously shot at his grandchildren with a bow and arrow.
Martin said her mother had expressed concerns about the boy’s mental health and that he might hurt someone.
“She had told her doctor one time she was so scared she was raising the next serial killer,” Martin said.
Que Warren Zevon - Excitable boy they all said!
The moment she started fearing the the things the child might do he should have been institutionalized for detailed evaluation. The doctor that she expressed her fears to and didn't report it to the county or police shoulders a great deal of the responsibility for her death.
I agree that there should have been no guns available to this troubled child as some others have said, but it should be realized that this kid would probably used a knife or bat or anything else weapon like at hand when he flipped out.
A very sad situation all around, the only positive thing is this kid won't be able to hurt anyone else, at least until some liberal ass puts him back on the street.
Have mercy on him - he is an orphan!
If his birth mother used meth during her pregnancy, thats more like a poisoned seed.
Nobody can unscramble an egg.
Narcissists, sociopaths, and psychopaths arent born...they are made by brutal abuse of a 0-6 year old. The mental illness and brutality gets passed to new generations like a disease...
Many years ago I discussed an event where a 7 year old had bashed in the head of a playmate with a rock, with a friend who was a child psychologist. He said the very same thing and it's unlikely the kid will ever be rehabilitated and will always be a threat to society.
