Vandals plain and simple. If these wacky ideas being talked about come to pass would have preferred the whole structure be burned to the ground.

Why not Solar Panels and a Windmill where the Spire stood?

Just turn it into a mosque and be done with it.
You know you want to.

I’m confused. I thought DeBlasio wants to get rid of glass to help the environment.

This will house the 180,000 or so bees that survived the fire. WTF??

It only makes sense to save it if they’re restoring it.

It has historic status....and there are plenty of rules. Wait and see what happens.

A greenhouse would be cool! My wife and I visited years ago, and climbed to the top of Notre Dame, and around the roofline. It would have been cool to see a garden up there.

Maybe a night club on the roof. Call it "Body and Soul".

That’s about the fugliest thing I’ve seen since that atrocity they came up with to replace the Twin Towers.
JUST REBUILD IT THE WAY IT WAS FOR 850 YEARS... only FIREPROOF this time.

The issue of our time is that in societys obsession with birth control it has pushed God out
The French can keep doing this until it has been completely taken over by the enemy of God but then theyre still going to have issues. And issues that cannot be solved by the grace of God
America is teetering in the same realm

I’ve read numerous comments promising that the next fire will leave nothing but rubble if some abomination like this is attempted.

People gave you good money to put it back the way it was but modernized
To: C19fan
Wirth all the money pledged to rebuild it, it is becoming an irresistible temptation for every wannabe architect to indulge his own ego-driven fantasies. The fact that it was a church has already been lost; so may as well just bulldoze it and put up some ghastly repurposed monstrosity. Keep the bell towers as a facade and fill in behind with a shopping arcade.
