"Putting humans on the moon in 2024 is not an America-alone effort," Bridenstine told a jampacked room of space industry officials. "We need all of our international partners. In fact, none of us can do what we want to achieve alone."
"The plans that we laid out for 2028 are the same plans that we're going to use to get to the moon in 2024. We're just going to have to move forward some of our investments, but it's all achievable," Bridenstine said, adding that a sufficient budget is still "key."
NASA is currently working on an amendment to its fiscal year 2020 budget request, because that budget was issued before Pence announced NASA's accelerated timeline for a moon landing in 2024. Bridenstine did not share any details about what will be in that budget amendment, but he said it will be submitted to the White House Office of Management and Budget next week.
Once the lunar gateway is ready, Bridenstine said, NASA and its partners will have "more access to more parts of the moon than ever before." NASA could launch foreign astronauts to the moon, but the agency is committed to making sure that the next man and the first woman on the moon are American, the agency head said.
"This is all about leadership, and when I say 'leadership,' I'm not talking about the United States of America. I'm talking about leadership with all of our international partners," Bridenstine said in his speech. "We can do this."

W can’t find 1969 caliber NASA leadership? Fire them and replace them.
How sad we are today as a country.
But so many people feel so wonderful about themselves.
Let’s see. How shall I read this.
“So you see, just like every other program on Earth, the US will pay 99% of the bills, and get nothing we ask for.”
Yes, that feels about right.
MAGA, NASA. MAGA or GTFO.
50 years ago we landed men on the moon using slide rules and super computers that had a combined computational power of far less than your average smartphone.
How did we do it back when all the computing power of all the NASA computers put together was less than the average iPhone? When spaceflight was still in its infancy? Yet now we “can’t”?
Trump needs to FIRE this lackluster SOB.
Makes sense. The first time we went there, the amount of space junk, satellites, etc., was a fraction of what it is now.
Obama shut down NASA. Many of the top personnel moved to Russia and went to work for Putin. Americans cannot get to the Space Station without Russian Rockets. How pathetic! If thats not Collusion what is!!
How did we do it before? Maybe it was a hoax movie after all. Lol.
Anybody who's not on the Trump Bandwagon--jump on!
But seriously, maybe they can find the old files and figure it out.
Doesn't sound like any kind of leadership I've ever heard of.
Pathetic. I got blasted earlier for saying NASA is so bad they can’t even build their own rocket engines any more. (Engines are now built in Russia.)
You can’t fire these guys—they are too busy promoting the main mission of NASA, which is confirming the Global Warming Hoax.
Explain to me again why we have NASA? It’s obviously not for anything to do with going into space. So what’s it for?
Lets build the wall first. Thats never been done before; landing on the moon has.
Send Hillary and leave her there.
Give her a hammer so she can smash all of the government equipment.
Been there and done that. We are totally broke and need to pay back the National debt beginning now.
Too late, the files are incomplete and documents were not retained. For awhile they were paying a lot to anyone who had vintage released publications in their collections.
