A Texas death-row inmate who was executed Thursday for killing his estranged wife's family nearly 30 years ago, uttered cryptic final words before he died.
"That'll be five dollars," Billie Wayne Coble, 70, of Waco, reportedly said. He told the five witnesses in attendance to "take care," according to reports.
His son, Gordon Coble, pounded on the execution chamber windows and shouted "no" as his father was executed, the Houston Chronicle reported. Another son Dalton joined his brother, the report said. Officers stepped in and say the witnesses continued to resist. They were eventually moved to a courtyard and the two men were handcuffed.
Coble received the lethal injection at the state penitentiary in Huntsville for the August 1989 shooting deaths of Robert and Zelda Vicha, the parents of his estranged wife, their son, and a police officer at separate homes in Axtell, northeast of Waco.
Coble also tied up four children and kidnapped his estranged wife, threatening to rape and kill her, the Morning News reported. He was arrested at the end of a chase

Shame that it took 30 years to get the scum off the planet.
Adios.
30 years? America's "justice system" is a clogged toilet
30 years............too long..................
Yes.
I clicked on the link hoping to learn answers ro a few questions:
Were the sons who were present at the execution also the sons of the estranged wife whose parents the murderer killed?
There is mention of 4 children being tied up during this lowlife’s
crime spree. Whose children were these?
Typical substandard reporting here.
Eccl 8:11—Because sentence against an evil work is not executed speedily, therefore the heart of the sons of men is fully set in them to do evil.
Yeah a little confusing.
Enough said.
Death penalty seems appropriate in this case.
I thought it was inflation until I saw that there were five of them.
Officers stepped in and say the witnesses continued to resist. They were eventually moved to a courtyard and the two men were handcuffed.
Billy Wayne, not to be confused with Billy Ray..
When I watch Forensic Files and the case is in Texas or other death penalty friendly state and I hear the verdict “death” I do a big whoop.
The lawyers who work for free are to blame. Instead of working for the poor or the undercapitalized, they defend the Cruel, and charge Kind people cruelly.
They gave him at least 25 extra years of life he should not have gotten. We shouldve heard about his execution as a passing news story in the early 1990s.
"Five dollars....Maybe I'll go to the movies.......By myself!"
I don’t think the intent of “speedy trial” means hurry up and wait a lifetime for justice.
I think death sentence inmates should get 30 days for appeal, then the sentence should be carried out...
Tennessee got 3 30+ yr ones in 2018, we still have 58 sitting on DR. 1 is the Rapist/Killer with DNA Proof of a 8 yr old little girl. Confessed, led police to the site he dumped her body. 2 trials, still doing state appeals. Crime happened in 1990.
***30 years? America’s “justice system” is a clogged toilet ***
True. Not like the olden days in which a murderer might last 40 days after the trial before meeting “Old Sparky”.
I still like Dean Martin’s words in ROUGH NIGHT IN JERICHO in which they arrest an armed man in a saloon...”Lock him up. We’ll hang him tomorrow right after the trial.”
