There could have been consequences but I believe the lawyers for the lacrosse players (I am sure with the players consent!) settled with Duke. I am sure they got a tidy sum but I am equally part of the agreement was let the profs skate!
Depending upon Who you want to
Teach,,,
Teach Jussie.
So whats the teachable moment? The players got paid off and the perpetrators skated? What would a fake hate crime hoaxer learn from this episode? How about the leftist piling on and condemning without all the facts? What did they learn?
I now want a Jussie Smollet autographed MAGA hat.
The lengths those depraved asses will go to to make President Trump look good!
Imagine having a chance with a new show. All the dreams of some sort of fame and income. Then he becomes an unemployed actor. Rejection in my own experience is one of the cruelest things that can happen.
Ok I just had to work this in. Me being an amateur genealogist and book reader. Smollett. A rare name. Scottish in origin. Famed author Tobias Smollett 1721-1771. A surgeon and satirist. Born in Scotland. wrote this book.
The Expedition of Humphry Clinker. 1771.
Yup,,
Obama once tried to foist a teachable moment about race. He failed, of course, because he had no real moral ground to stand on. The complaining party was a racist black professor and the cop was professional and conscentious. This, like before, is the intentional and unfair slander of an entire social group, in this case a whole race. Why allow the injustice of these racism deniers to stand? It will only get worse.
Kamala Harris tweeted about how terrible and racist this action was. Worse, she used it to push through a so-called Anti-lynching bill which included at the last minute language making LGBT claimants a federally protected class. Our supposedly Republican-majority Senate passed it.
It will only get worse,
The Hatred runs Deep.
My black friends only talk about Jussies actions as an attempt to gain attention. In other words they are deflecting. It makes me angry but I dont say anything because I know they will hold it against me.
Interesting, a satirist no less...
Theres some truth to what you say, of promises unkept. Of course, these were illegitimate promises, but that falls on deaf ears.
Of course, these were illegitimate promises, but that falls on deaf ears.
Illegitimate because impossible?
Your post comes across as condescending liberal mumbo jumbo double speak. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. You sir carry a lot of shame. Perhaps you’re a new reader who’s taken up an interest in race relations, or perhaps you just haven’t been following the news on items ‘just like this’
I see no teachable moment here. Just more lying and breaking of the social contract.
Not only that but also because they were promises made by progressive politicians.
I carry no trans-generational or group shame. Such concepts irk me because it offends my belief in individual sovereignty.
Beer summit?
It shows that left wing nut cases are obsessed with race and sex and are willing to create any lie to try to justify their wrong-headedness...the statement you made about it showing that anyone can be racist pads their claims that all us Whites are racist....
What makes you thin it was the Duke lacrosse players or the lawyers job to provide a teachable moment?
The goal of the students was to survive! Salvage the future as best they could. The money they got from Duke goes a long way for that. Maybe they learned something - stay away from hookers sleazy bars, etc.! The lawyers goal was to maximize their pay.
Remember Duke is a private school.
I am sure Duke’s insurance got zinged maybe even its trust fund. I am also sure Duke’s trust fund is so huge it didn’t notice the zing. Its Duke’s trustees job to police and manage the reputation & quality of the school. If they got good seats at the ball games then all is well.
The story is the same everywhere college/university trustees (if state schools legislatures) don’t do their job.
I have advocated for years on this forum for people to put pressure on their legislatures (if a state schools) join the trustees if asked. Also hammer the alumni associations, tell them no donations until some changes. I don’t think anybody here does that. Easier to just complain!
