Jussie Smollett gives us the opportunity for a really important teachable moment. First, Smollett illustrates that anyone of any race is capable of racism. It goes with the territory of possessing a racial identity.
Second, that whites or any other race should not be stereotyped to the point of vilification. This phenomenon was exhibited by Corey Booker before the facts were in. Everyone is, after all, an individual.
Third, that extreme tribalism, as exhibited by Smollett’s defenders even in the face of his actions, does not sow goodwill. It does not matter what Smollett’s motivations or background happens to be in the face of such blatant racism.
I’m sure there is much more we can learn during this teachable moment.
The teachable moment is that the fake news hoax leftist Democrat media propaganda machine is very real.
I knew that, you knew that, but lots of people are blissfully unaware.
You’ll never get the lefties to learn anything at a “teachable moment”. They think it’s their job to teach you what to think.
Blacks were promised something from 1954-1965 that they have not received. The people who did the promising never considered the possibility that what they had promised could never be delivered.
The material circumstances in their communities, in their families, etc. deteriorate relentlessly.
This is why there is a panic-driven search for “racists”, as if the least-racist generation of whites ever in the history of the world are somehow manipulating events to harm black people.
It’s odd that, when public and legal racism was permitted and even applauded, the material conditions in black communities were much better than they are now.
Smollett did it because he didn’t get enough attention. Now he has lots of attention.
Teachable moment: be careful what you wish for.

So it appears that Danny Strong has not responded to the latest news until he hears all the facts.
There is little or nothing new or unique about this item. It’s certainly a teachable moment, though not a unique teachable moment. It’s like saying “it’s very unwise to try to scoot around the gates at a railroad crossing”. That is an absolutely valuable “teachable” lesson but there’s utterly nothing new about it and it doesn’t tarnish the value of the “lesson” even if it you’ve seen the potential results 20 times.
I take a different lesson from the event. The lesson I take is, and my “take” is not better nor more or less unique than yours: There’s really no reasoning with these leftists. There is no node nor state of “reasonableness” or “logic” they have any internal tendency to move to. They are self-propelled into an emotional state of wanting to dance on Trump’s grave with every feeling they have or might be capable of. They are outrage junkies; they are addicted to confirming their own animus and derangement and nothing else seems to matter to them. It’s all they can do and it’s all they want to do.
The only thing that matters is, they must be defeated. That’s all there is to it.
That being a stupid liar who tries to skate on race baiting gets you 3 to five years.
I think that is a very teachable lesson.

I think the leftists get us all to think/talk too much of “black communities” as monolithic — in fact there is a vast range in behaviors, economic circumstances, etc. For millions of black Americans life is exceptionally good and comfortable in a middle class to upper middle class lifestyle, certainly with far better material circumstances than ANY of my “white” forbears ever enjoyed before the 1970s-80s.
The millions of black Americans who are not doing well are largely caught up in cycles of their own (or parental) bad behaviors: illegitimacy and broken families, poor life choices, too much crime, etc.
Not that it’s always a simple either/or for any family, race, or community.... but there are many millions of American blacks who are doing quite quite well no matter what the “Racism Propagandists” try to say about it.
The big problems are for all the people in America (of any race/background) who are not committed to working hard and honestly for the true American Dreams.
Maybe a teachable moment for some. I find it hard
to learn something I already know, though.
What I do find is that it was massively entertaining
and I’m gonna miss it.

The 88 professors that signed the letter condemning the Duke lacrosse team all got promoted and are still working @ Duke. There are no consequences for the left.
Nothing will happen to Smollett. In fact he’ll be rewarded for standing up to Trump and his supporters. He’ll even blame them for his lying and actions.
This will be a teachable moment for you. In a couple of months or a year come back and read this reply.

A source with knowledge of the investigation told DailyMail.com that investigators now believe these stories were all posted so Smollett could alert the men ahead of the attack.
Furthermore, they also believe that this could explain why a woman in Smollett’s building said she saw two men with a rope hanging around near the residences approximately 90 minutes before the incident...
