Neurofibromatosis.
” If all mankind in our present state were perfectly health, with no disabilities, then I think we would be most shallow.”

All one has to do is to look into one’s daily life to learn that your supposition is correct.
From the bassinette to lower grades, higher grades, chosen profession, one can see how shallow the ‘beautiful’ people are in their public and private interactions.
/That film was and is one of the most moving experiences of my life,
Same here. I came upon the book by accident, just cruising the aisles in the library one day. After reading about what he went through and the person he was able to become, I felt like a terrible human being. I was in my late 20s at the time and think it was instrumental in how I wanted to see myself going forward.
The movie is excellent. I expect more people know about Merrick from the movie than the book, but that’s OK. I just hope it makes them think about themselves as persons - and how they treat others.
Thanks for posting. It is impossible to know the ramifications Merrick’s testimony might have had on those around him, his testimony and those who generously cared for him. Our time is short in the sense of eternity and so are our infirmities. What should more be pity are those who live a “good and productive life” yet never know the grace of God offered through our Lord Jesus Christ.
In addition to the fantastic make up, outstanding acting performances by Anthony Hopkins and the late Jonhn Hurt, plus fine directing by the great David Lynch.
Mel Brooks was an
Uncredited Producer,
What ever that means,
Interesting.
Read a study of Job this morning,
this Young Man died at 27,,,
I wonder if He knew of Job?
The Prophets’
Jesus,,,
I believe the story went that if Mel Brooks had prominently put his name on the film, the public would’ve misunderstood the story as a comedy, rather than the drama that it was.
Agreed,
I saw the movie when it came out
and it Is still a Powerful presence.
A dark film that strikes deep.
Like Schindlers List,
You watch it
once a Year.
That was Mask, a movie about a different person. Can’t remember if it was biographical or not.
