ST. PETERSBURG — Tropicana Field will become the first cashless sports venue in North American, the Rays announced Friday.
The Rays said tests with analytics and emerging tech firm E15 showed that switching to cash-free will cut transaction times in half.
Payment forms to be accepted at Tropicana Field this season include major credit cards, Rays gift cards, mobile payments such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay and season-ticket holder Rays Cards, the team announced in a press release.
Fans without electronic forms of payment can exchange cash at all retail locations and through roaming gift-card vendors in $10 and $20 increments. Parking operations at the Trop were cash-free in 2018 and will continue to be.

i was at Tropicana field two weeks ago for Shrine Game practice...it will be cashless because nobody goes there- my God- what a piece of crap that place is...hideous..
In order to make more money, we will no longer accept money! Our employees are too stupid to make change.
Attendance will drop even further.
A cashless society WILL be mandated, probably sooner rather than later. Scary times are headed our way.
We can be forced into a cashless society and made to carry government identity cards for access & travel within our own borders, but we can’t be required to prove we are voting legally in local, state, or federal elections. We’re becoming a police state — just ask the Mueller lynch party.

....and probably cut sales in half as well.
I use my Apple Pay at every opportunity. It’s just so easy. The downside is that I’m catching myself leaving the house with my wallet left behind more and more. Actually, that’s not really a downside.

Lighting hurts my eyes, field looked like someone peed in spots on it, catwalks stop long fly balls, narrow passageways, NOT handicap friendly.
And the Rays had a decent team last year playing in front of thousands of empty seats.
I suppose it's not a debt unless the guy hands you the beer before you pay for it.

LOL. So true. That stadium really is a time warp back to the ‘90s. Or even ‘80s. It would make a good Haunted House on Halloween.
So your lemming stupidity makes EASY the best way of operating?
Have you ever considered that it is easy for the stupids?
Just like sending children to public school is easy for the stupids?
Or using GPS is easy for the stupids?
One must look much much farther down the road in cause and effect when supporting some of these concepts.
What it’s really about is grabbing all that unused $ from the $10 and $20 prepaid cards from folks who only go once.
I like using cash ,it keeps me from spending too much
