If Satan wanted to build a Catholic Church that would give him a free hand to operate across the world with no resistance ... it would be filled with bishops just like this feckless moron.

Pressure coming from his fellow dress-wearing celibates or from the angry marxist in Rome?

Name the bullies or it didn’t happen.

Jesus Christ didn’t want to be crucified either but he knew it was God’s will and humanity’s salvation.
So much for vows before God.

“Sounds like a good read.”
It’s frightening and inspiring. Our church youth group read it in the ‘60s, and that might be too young of an age for this book.

He received a letter from the libel lawyer demanding that he preserve all his records regarding the issue.

Bishop was not just off base but was caught wondering far out in left field. Now claiming “The Devil made me do it”.

No chance he’d ever face the lions. He’d renounce his faith and offer sacrifice to the devil the Communists worship.

Spineless weasel. However, one should not be surprised as bishops of his ilk have been covering up the homosexual predators in the Church for decades.

I am not a member of the Catholic church. For years I regarded the church and its members in high regard (though Momma said they drank too much). Throughout the history of West Civ it has been that institution that led the way in defining morality. Yes it no doubt stumbled, and had failures. But in balance the world has benefited from its leadership and courage.
Seems right now it is in steep decline—but that may be for just this moment and it may right itself to once again lead as it has historically done. Do not surrender, even if some members here and abroad have failed. Men fail—
God does not.

When I think of all of the suffering of all the martyrs who were NOT bullied, this guy makes me puke! Even today, there are Christians refusing to denouce Christ watching their family murdered at the hands of ISIS.

As one raised Catholic, I truly believe that the Catholic Church is doomed unless a massive purge of the upper leadership (a true misuse of the term) occurs.
I totally agree with you, except there is absolutely no mechanism to force that to happen. The Church's greatest strength is that it's not a democracy. And it's greatest weakness is that it's not a democracy. If they want to hang on to power with an iron grip, the only thing the rest of us can do is leave.
Schism is not the dirty word that some Catholics would have you believe.
To: Enterprise
saying he was "bullied and pressured"That's a great excuse the bishop is offering - but not as good as the one Eichmann used:
I was only following ordahs!
Didn't do him any good, either!
