I predict on or around July 20th next year a very rare and spectacular astronomical event will occur. That is because on the 25th anniversary of the moon landing a comet smashed into Jupiter and the next July 20th is the 50th anniversary.
Is it whispering your name?
I predict the highly advertised movie pic of Supreme Court Associate Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg.....will be a massive box office flop. Sorry folks, it came true before I predicted it. Nobody cares too much about little Ruthie & her life episodes. End of story!!!
Prophecy is seeing what shall be
But there is one I remember. The pastor stood up that morning and SAID HE WAS GOING TO PROPHECY. This rather caught my attention as there were other Spirit filled things going on.
But first, let’s talk about that word prophecy. It is a complex word, though our minds want a simple definition. For many today, as this article suggests, it means predicting the future, and mostly in the context of worldly soothsayers. Note that sooth origination is truth, (small t). Cassandra might be one of the most well known soothsayers. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cassandra
Historically prophets were from God and spoke for God to the people. But of course there were false prophets as today.
Now, there were prophecies of weal (good news) and woe (not so good news). Now the word weal has dropped off the radar in current use but we still understand the word woe, though it also is not a common word in todays culture. There is one time in the Bible where woe, woe, woe is used and that is definitely not good. (I encourage the reader to look it up).
Back to the pastor. Here was his prophecy: IF YOU CONTINUE TO DO WHAT YOU ARE DOING, SOMETHING BAD IS GOING TO HAPPEN TO YOU.
Now that didnt sound right to my ears. It was not a very strong prediction, it had a condition, that word IF!!!!
But it is correct. In Gods prophecies of woe (or my mothers) there is always a stated or implied way out of the bad news. One obvious time in the Bible that I can find that the if clause was implemented, Jonah wasnt happy about it. There were others.
The way out is the word repent, the theme of the whole Bible.
The other message from the pastor was that WE COULD ALL PROPHECY AND SHOULD be PROPHESIZING.
We need to prophecy to the liberals. If they dont change their ways, at least we have the satisfaction of being right.
An example: If you continue to support world government, you lose your representation and will be slaves.
Now lets hear some prophecy and make it our way of speaking to the libs.................................................................
Yeah, but what about all those other years of prophesy, where the world ended because the planets lined up, or a rare (but frequent) blood moon, or stars, or comet? 2017, 2016, 2015, etc., etc? Hmmmm? I guess that doesn’t preclude 2020 being hindsight for all of them.
The only hindsight we get around here is when our neighbor, ZENGYRL,who walks her dogs in shirt and panties.....forgets her panties... Hope y’all have a good New Year. M44.
The best vanity post on a day when there are so many bad ones.
I have my own tale of weal (good news) and woe (not so good news). In all my life I can only remember two dreams of a religious nature. In the first Im talking to God himself. I tell him Im sorry I did not believe in Him but I do appreciate the chance he has given me to thank him in person for existing and the wonderful universe he constructed for us.
In the tale of woe Im riding a bicycle with a warped rim. I see Jesus with his disciples sitting at a table under a thatched hut. Being an atheist at this time in my life I find this amusing because of the saying People need Jesus like a fish needs a bicycle. I go right up to Jesus in my smug way and ask Him what kind of tool do I need to fix my bike.
You need tool 181 he says. Im totally confused by this remark. I was thinking of the little tool you slide over a spoke head and twist to loosen or tighten, not Tool 181. Then I wake up.
For years I wondered about this dream and what it truly meant. Finally decades later the meaning occurred to me. He meant I needed to turn my life around 180 degrees and then go one degree beyond that!
Thanks for the compliment. I don't do vanity posts very often. In fact I've probably started more real reporting posts then starting a separate thread devoted to some idea I wanted to express. I figure posting within a thread is good enough most of the time.
Prolepsis is predicting the past.
It sounds counter-intuitive, but the
Bible is full of predictions for
events that had already occurred.
...as a boy, we raised rabbits.
They ate rabbits food.
..we would butcher the rabbits and eat them.
They were good to pet...and then to eat.
Life is strange....just like this OP.
HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!!
I guess that doesnt preclude 2020 being hindsight for all of them.
You don't need Hindsight to see events predicted but that never happened. You only need normal vision to read a newspaper or watch TV to see such bogus tales.
Footprints upon another world...
From the heavens a string of pearls!
Five square years they smash Zeus eye.
Five square more another heavenly sign!
This is the only way you could get me to watch a positve movie about Ruth Buzzy Ginsburg.
Living lonely isn’t a reason to post a nonsense vanity such as this.....get yerself a dog or something......sheesh!
since this thread is all about you, just get yourself a mirror.........and a cat.
That’s pretty cool and even more inscrutable. People gonna have a field day trying to decipher it. Thumbs up!
