This guy built a ‘glitter bomb’ and filmed Amazon thieves getting their just deserts.

The device was a booby trap. It was very elaborate and well engineered, but it was still a booby trap. Booby traps are illegal in most locations.

People have lost eyes from getting glitter in them. If that happened to one of these porch pirates, a lawsuit would be almost guaranteed, regardless of whatever minor crime they might have committed by stealing the package.

Great video.

***Dye would be better.***

To make it work better, the liquid in the bottom of a fly trap will more than gag a person. It wills soak into the seats destroying the value of the automobile, plus it will cause anyone who smells it to puke.

LOL, of course not, the guy built custom boards, wrote special software, used a 3D printer, etc.

Absolutely 100% not something done by a Layman, no doubt...but the man-geek deep inside many men, that cares not about time, money, or resources would secretly love to do it!

Here is the mindset: my buddy and I drove an hour and a half to get good barbecue, and both of our wives were flummoxed by this. Why on earth would we do this?

We shrugged our shoulders...because we want to!

Well, that was as reasonable a response as I have any right to expect...though I doubt I will be able to resist yukking it up...:)

And a Merry Christmas to you!

I woulda still been busting a gut as I handed him an inflated bill for the paint and an eviction notice.

Thats why there is a built in reverse acting proximity switch AND redundant delayed timers to insure the 5 lbs of symtex glitter is not traced back to you.

On a serious note, we live in a society where you can be assaulted by four men, even have it captured on video, it can be declared not racially motivated, and you were just mugged, and nothing will be done. You can end up in the hospital, even crippled or disfigured for life or subject to PTSD, and nothing will be done. Nothing.

We live in a society where you can get your identity hacked, and there is nothing that can be done about it. Nothing. You and your family could lose everything and go through years of pain, and nothing will be done. Nothing.

We live in a society where you can get your credit cards and bank accounts stolen and there is nothing that can be done about it. Nothing. You could go through weeks, months, even years of having your finances and credit score ruined, and even though your credit card or bank might write off the losses, you might never, ever get back to where you were, and nothing will be done. Nothing.

We live in a society where a thief can walk onto your porch or into your home, steal your property, you can video it, get a full shot of the person’s face, get the make and model of the car, even probably get a license plate number, but nothing will be done. You could go to the ends of the earth, but that $400 electronic device and the money you paid for it will be gone. You aren’t getting that back, never mind the feeling of violation by having someone walk directly onto your property and steal directly from you, but nothing will be done. Nothing.

But, if some dickweed, who in another time and place, would be justly turned into a grease spot by society for stealing, is injured by someone, all the resources of the government and justice system will be turned against the law-abiding citizen who was violated?

Is that right?

No, it isn’t. And rolling over and letting people steal from you because, hey, it is only money is not right either, it is wrong. The fact that so many of us are cowed into submission by the very government whose purpose is to PROTECT is wrong.

I don’t blame people on this thread who feel differently. Their concern is well founded for a variety of reasons, I just disagree that I would let that mindset guide my actions.

Personally, I would set a trap like this, for those reasons outlined above. If some criminal wanted to make a court case out of this, I would be happy to make this very argument in front of a jury of my peers, if one can be found, and let the chips fall where they may. I am tired of rolling over for stuff like this.

He wasn’t my tenant and was a welfare rat.

Sadly, he was actually a good worker. We had hired him previously to demo a garage and the guy did a great job.

We are living in the modern ‘Weimar Republic’.
I can see why the Germans voted for the National Socialists to clean up the mess the government had made and to resist the communists.
It will not end well...again.

I wouldn’t care if they were killed. The world would be a better place without trash like those people.

And the cops’ response that these thefts were not worth their time is a disgrace. I guess there is revenue to generate and donuts to eat.

But you are right. This guy is on very shaky legal ground. I would not put past some publicity-hungry DA to try prosecuting it.

"...We are living in the modern ‘Weimar Republic’..."

Arggh! Don't say that...since I became more "history aware" many years ago and learned about that era, it has frightened me ever since...especially since it appears to be true.

They have bottles of game urine at the sporting goods store that will make you jump away. A box bomb that would coat everything within 10 feet with this urine would be cool.

It is called anarcho-tyranny and its very purpose is to cow law-abiding citizens.

Well shoot. I should probably remove the trip wires and punji sticks from my yard. I suppose those are considered booby traps too, even though I am “defending against coyotes.”

(No fun)

How about a couple sticks of dynamite then? ;-)
