Nearly 20 years ago, former President George H.W. Bush wanted to sponsor a Filipino boy named Timothy through Colorado Springs-based nonprofit Compassion International but first, he needed a pseudonym. Hes passed away now, so its probably not a classified name anymore it was George Walker, said Wess Stafford, Compassion president emeritus. Thats the same name that he used, apparently, whenever he checked into a hospital and they needed to have it unknown that he was in there.
Bushs security team was worried about Timothys safety, said Stafford. If word had gotten out that the child was communicating with a former U.S. president, he could have been in danger, Through Compassion International, a sponsor writes letters to a child in addition to providing financial support. Bushs letters were intentionally vague to mask his identity, and all communication between the two of them went through Stafford, who was then president of Compassion.
The first time he started breaking our little security rules was when he sent a picture of his dog, Millie, and he added, This is Millie. Shes met lots of famous people, Stafford said, laughing. And I thought, OK, thats cute, but boy, thats starting to slip some little secrets in there.
And then years later, he wrote, Were going to have Christmas this year with my son at his house. And then he adds, Oh, and he lives in a big, white house. And Im like, Come on, Mr. President. You are really pushing the envelope here.

I did not know this and thought I would share it.
George H.W. Bush was a good man. Yes, a globalist and all that, but a good man nonetheless. Wish there were more good men.
Seeing and hearing the honor and remembrance of GHWB, I admire the man much more besides some weirdness. I contrast this with an equal damnation of his politics (antithesis of Ronald Reagan within the conservative model) and how he was ineffectual as a President and true conservative leader. I loathe compassionate conservatism which brought us Clinton, Bush II and Obama. The big achievement was not Gulf War because the decision to NOT destroy Hussein opened open Pandora’s Box.
Cultural appropriation. Oh the horror!!!
Seriously, George H Bush and son W were/are both very good men. I didn’t agree with all of their policies, but most of them for sure.
In keeping this non partisan, I can say I agree with very little of Jimmy Carters policies as President but I can say that he also is in the same vein as the above two. A very good man. One who should also be so honored when he passes. Perhaps he should stay in Washington at the Cathedral. He is 95 after all.... JUST KIDDING!!!!
Would not get his hands dirty with a white kid.
