You’ve got to admit, pulling a knife and threatening to gut someone complaining about one’s loud public farting is something of a cultural milestone.

I don’t think it is ever civil or appropriate to comment on some stranger farting.

I’d also like to know exactly what he said — I doubt it was complementary.

At some point, if you are trash-talking people, they may well be expected to violently respond. They are not legally allowed to, but it is not an unexpected response, even from people who would normally be law-abiding.

I watched two guys nearly get into a fistfight because the one guy called the other guy out for cutting in line, and it degraded into personal attacks about their parenting skills and basic morality.

If a deranged judiciary can call abortion a constitutional (4th Amendment) right of privacy, it's very possible they could call farting a (1st Amendment) constitutional right of freedom of speech.

That is... providing the PC identities of the players align correctly. If so, the woman was defending her freedom of speech from the hate crime of a racist male-chauvanist trying to oppress her.

Go to a fairly nice restaurant, tip over, cut the loudest and nastiest smelling fart imaginable, and just sit there and laugh while the paint is peeling off the walls and everyone else is either embarrassed or leaving.
