Well my prediction came true about the Red Soxs going into the World Series.

Would not surprise me if Boston goes for the sweep in LA.

Very possible after BoSox win last night. IIRC, winner of first two WS games has ~80% probability of taking the series.

We want Brock! We want Brock!

I thought of something last night while watching the Red Sox dominate the Dodgers Blue.

Red. Blue. An interesting combination for an upcoming election. Is there significance? Red beating the crap out of Blue? One can but hope.

That was before the "twi-light" doubleheader nonsense where they kicked you out of the park after game one and made you pay to get back in for game 2.

Sam, those are called separate admission "day-night" doubleheaders. Done mostly for make-ups of rainouts. Most home teams make these up as part of traditional doubleheaders, either afternoon games starting around 1PM, or "twi-nighters", which start around 5PM.

The Red Sox seem to have a deal to do make-ups as day/nighters. Probably because they tend to get about 90%+ attendance at every game, so making up a game as a traditional DH would force them to lose a lot of ticket revenue. Of course, in places like Oakland, where the average house is about 30-40% of capacity, combining the crowds isn't a big deal.

Hi Nutmeg!!

I was born in Medford,MA, lived in Winthrop and Weymouth before marrying NJ. Was ALWAYS a Red Sox fan and could not take the Yankees when moving here, altho I do like the Mets.

When I was a teenager, at the beach, I would be on my blanket with my portable radio, listening the Sox — while my friends were flirting with the boys. I LOVED Ted Williams (yes I am of age now!!) and even wrote a letter to radio announcer, Jim Britt, about how I worshipped Williams. Britt even answered the letter!

Crossing fingers and eyes and everything else for Boston when in SD. Go Sox!!

Different series when they are in LA? Porcello is unreliable. E-Rod in relief vs lefties?

Wow, such a cool story, Exit! I do remember you told me before you had quite the schoolgirl crush on handsome Ted Williams. :-)

By the way regarding World Series on the radio, due to an MLB rule only during the World Series, only the flagsghip station of the team network can carry their own broadcast (for example, WEEI-FM 93.7 in Boston area). All other stations of the Red Sox network have to air ESPN radio’s version.

The same applies to LA—their flagship station gets the hometown version, but affiliates get ESPN radio. However if you get XM/Sirius you could still get the “hometown” broadcast.

Very interesting... I didn't know that. Thanks!

They just showed a 102 year old woman——she didn’t even have a hat on——the Dodgers are freezing.

She looked amazing for 102! And she had just been released from the hospital, too. Lots of tough cookies up here in New England! ;-)

Well my prediction came true about the Red Soxs going into the World Series.

Maybe I haven't been following our Sox as carefully this season, but I honestly didn't think they would get this far. Mostly because of the sometimes problematic pitching.

That's what I'm worried about. It's about to get really "interesting" for Red Sox fans...

I’ll take the 53 degree weather any day of the week-—I detest the heat.

Same here. However, it's inevitable that hubby and I will move to the South at some point in the next few years. I honestly don't know how I'm gonna deal with it... :-/

Except that Boston is a bastion for liberals.

Yes, overall, that is the case (as is Los Angeles). There ARE pockets of conservatism throughout New England, but -- unfortunately we are outnumbered.

I want to take this opportunity to APOLOGIZE for the Red Sox owners' decision to haul out the carcass of wimpy James Taylor to sing his sad, wussy rendition of our national anthem during Game 1 at Fenway. Barf!

The Red Sox owners are under the mistaken impression that we are actually fans of this highly overrated POS. Fortunately our national anthem was performed properly by the Boston Pops during Game 2.

When Jim and I were salmon fishing in New Brunswick, CA, he had a place close by. Our guide heard my story and tried to call him so I could meet him. But -—sob-— he was away at the time. Sob.

Nice post——I was in my kitchen when James Taylor was singing——very small TV-——I barely recognized him———and ALWAYS hated him because of his over-rated singing style.

I would hate him even if he was a Trump voter.

Go Sox !!!!!!!!!!!!
