Losing Hope as Susan Collins Spoke (liberal tears - plus photos to caption)
New York Times ^ | 10/7/2018 | Damon Winter

On Friday morning, Senator Susan Collins of Maine said that she would declare later that afternoon whether she would confirm or oppose the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court. For the women who opposed Judge Kavanaugh, many of whom had traveled to Washington from all over the country, her decision was their last hope. By 2:30 p.m., half an hour before she was due to announce her decision, Collins’s office on the fourth floor of the Dirksen Senate building was filled with protesters, most of them women, and members of the press.

The crowd was overflowing into the halls and stretching close to the entire length of the building. The women began quietly to sing the civil rights anthem “We Shall Overcome.”

When Collins began speaking in the Senate, they fell silent. A woman held a phone to her ear and relayed the remarks word for word to the crowd. Collins’s statement was hardly spontaneous. It was measured and deliberate. As it became clear that she was going to support the nomination, people began screaming at the television. “You’re done,” one woman shouted.

By the time I arrived in the grand, sunlit atrium of the Hart Senate Building where much of the opposition energy had been focused these past two weeks, the mood was entirely somber. Collins had just ended her nearly 45-minute statement with a vote to confirm Brett Kavanaugh. The lines sung by the women outside Collins’s office still rang in my mind:

We shall overcome. We’re on to victory. The truth shall make us free. Someday.

A frontal view of the angry “woman” would have shown serpent eyes for sure!

“It’s distressing to see these misguided people suffering so publicly every time the president wins. It would be much more seemly if they suffered in private.”

Clearly, schaedenfreude is not part of your being. But it is part of mine - I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it when Leftist snowflakes go nuts when they lose. Why? Because they are no different than their ideological forebearers, the Russian Leftists who murdered my great grandfather, after determining that merely seizing all the fruits of his life’s work wasn’t sufficient punishment for an old man suffering from cancer.

Yeah, I LOVE it when these people suffer - and showing how utterly infantile and insane they are in public is a bonus, as it makes normal people wonder why they would EVER think about voting for candidates that these lunatics like. BRING ON MORE SUFFERING!!!!

If you think about it “Believe All Women” has a rather racist history.

Well, here’s how it works. When conservatives, or at least R’s, are in power, the system needs to check them. For balance, when libs are in, they get to run wild.

“Funny how prepared these spontaneous demonstrations are”

OK, it isn’t often that one gets to tie together 2 seemingly unrelated posts in a single thread, but this is one of those times.

“spontaneous demonstrations” reminds me - every single time I hear it - of a 1969 movie entitled, “Don’t Drink the Water.”

The tie-in? It starred Jackie Gleason. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Don%27t_Drink_the_Water_(1969_film)

It is also a hoot, for those into Cold War humor (just like “The Russians are Coming, the Russians are Coming” with Alan Arkin).

This is the Participation Trophy generation. They don’t understand how it’s possible to lose, they have no experience with it. If we had know earlier we could have had ribbons printed up with You Won Too on them to hand out.
