Leading pro-life groups are celebrating the confirmation of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh, after the Senate turned back a character assassination campaign spearheaded by pro-abortion Democrat senators and pro-abortion groups to attempt to derail the nomination.
Below are statements LifeNews has received from pro-life organizations:
The National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) welcomed President Trumps announcement of Kavanaughs selection on July 9, 2018, and following todays vote issued the following statement.
Todays Senate vote is a victory for Judge Kavanaugh, and for the President, but also for the rule of law it is a victory for all who believe that the federal courts should enforce the rights truly based on the text and history of the Constitution, and otherwise leave policy questions in the hands of elected legislators, said Carol Tobias, president of National Right to Life.
Senate Majority Leader McConnell and Judiciary Committee Chairman Grassley deserve the highest marks for their steadfast and courageous leadership during this contentious 13-week confirmation battle, noted Douglas D. Johnson, senior policy advisor to National Right to Life. Special commendation is due for Senator Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), whose incisive public advocacy did much to dispel clouds of misinformation disseminated by many opponents of confirmation. In the end, every pro-life senator supported confirmation.
Jeanne Mancini, President of March for Life
Today the United States Supreme Court has gained an exceptional Justice in Brett Kavanaugh. March for Life is grateful to Justice Kavanaugh and his family for persevering through this most difficult confirmation process. We are also grateful to President Trump for delivering on his campaign promise to nominate a fair and independent judge who faithfully adheres to the Constitution. The Supreme Court plays a critical role in pro-life policy and has for decades. We look forward to Justice Kavanaughs tenure on the bench and the impact his dedicated public service will have towards creating a country where every human life is valued and protected equally under the law.
Family Research Council President Tony Perkins released the following statement in reaction:
History was made today as Brett Kavanaugh overcame an unimaginable smear campaign to be confirmed to the U.S. Supreme Court. For the first time in decades, this nomination his nomination brought with it the reality of returning to a truly constitutionalist court. Many on the Left couldnt stand such a thought. And for that, he and his family have paid a tremendous price.
Leader McConnell and Chairman Grassley are to be commended for their bold and strategic leadership in overcoming the antics of these past few weeks to fulfill their constitutional duty of advice and consent.

The Supreme Court vacancy was a defining issue in the 2016 presidential election. President Trump made history by telling voters who he would appoint to the court by providing a list a list of justices who would interpret the law rather than use the court as a workbench for liberal policies.
The American people chose him and he, in turn, chose two justices from the expanded list. Like Justice Gorsuch, we anticipate Judge Kavanaugh will adhere to the text and plain meaning of the Constitution.
While the vacancy on the court has been filled, the issue of how those on the Left will stop at nothing in their effort to use the court as the vehicle for their agenda will continue into Election Day and beyond.
This nomination and todays confirmation were about the Constitution and the foundational freedoms it was designed to protect. Today was a major step in the journey to restore the Constitution to its rightful and intended role in our Republic, concluded Perkins.
SBA List President Marjorie Dannenfelser released the following statement:
We congratulate Justice Kavanaugh on his well-deserved and hard-earned confirmation. The balance of the Supreme Court has shifted back toward one that respects the will of the voters expressed through their representatives a resounding victory for American people, who overwhelmingly trusted President Trump to choose Supreme Court nominees. As Justice Kavanaugh takes his seat on the bench of the nations highest court alongside Justice Neil Gorsuch, we are confident he will continue to rule with the same fairness and independence that have characterized his entire legal career. We thank President Trump for keeping his promise, as well as Leader McConnell and Chairman Grassley for their steadfast commitment to the truth and support for Kavanaugh.
Senate Democrats should be ashamed of exploiting human pain and the serious issue of sexual assault for a partisan political agenda. Only one vulnerable incumbent, Joe Manchin, stood up to Chuck Schumer, Dianne Feinstein, and other pro-abortion party leaders while Joe Donnelly, Bill Nelson, Claire McCaskill, Heidi Heitkamp, and Jon Tester caved under pressure. Anyone who thinks the voters will forget this profound betrayal is greatly mistaken. Since July of last year, SBA Lists field team has reached more than 2 million voters at their homes in key battleground states and will be on the ground every day through Election Day. A majority of voters in these states have told our canvassers they support Judge Kavanaugh. Americans saw through the vilification of an exceptionally qualified nominee and their senators will be held accountable.
I PRAY HE REMEMBERS WHO BROUGHT HIM TO THE DANCE!
I do too!
I don’t understand why they are saying it is such a change? It isn’t. It’s no different than it was. Neither side won anything. They haven’t changed Roe/Wade in all these years, why do they think it is such an assurance it will happen because Kavanaugh was confirmed? Same thing applied when Roberts was confirmed. A lot of talk, no change.

I don’t. I hope he rules on ... whatever ... based on the texts of the Constitution and of the laws under consideration.
The people who arguably lobbied the hardest for Kavanaugh were President GW BUsh and Condoleezza Rice. He was one of GW Bush’s top aides. He clerked for the swing voting Justice Kennedy. It has been rumored that Kennedy would not retire unless Kavanaugh was nominated to be his replacement.
The real fireworks will begin when Ruth Bader Ginsberg is wheeled out of the halls of the Supreme Court for the last time. Looking at her is hard to believe that she will make it for much longer.
Justice Sotomayer has been having severe difficulties keeping her type 1 diabetic problems under control. “Women with type 1 diabetes have their lives cut short by about 13 years, according to a report published in the Jan. 6 issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.” Sotomayer is 68; the average life span of a woman with type 1 diabetes is... 68.
I think she means he does not become a turn coat. We put him there to get rid of roe vs wade. We don’t want a sell out, we want roe vs wade gone.
I have a question:
Why do lesbians care so much about abortions being free and freely available?
Seems like most of the protest speakers are open about being lesbians, and yet they are furious when they think Kavenaugh is going to make abortions illegal.
Homosexual men are also very pro-abortion. That’s even battier.
Why are Capital Police permitting the mob to occupy the steps of the Supreme Court?
The tide of history is slowly turning against the killing of innocent life
I see the proof everyday in my very liberal town of Fairfax Ca
Babies are everywhere ! Its awsome to see
The preschools are all full to capacity
Its wonderful to see.
Choose life !
Children are the GREATEST of tge Almightys blessings !
Watching one of the channels, they say there are about 6 or 8 abortion cases that will go to SCOTUS.
I heard one pundit saying, you might see Roe v. Wade piecemealed down.
Anyway, if they thought, they could reverse Roe, they would have pick Amy Coney Barret. This is kind of an in between move.
I don’t suspect big changes in the next year; but they could come at some point after that.
I call this a victory but we will still have to wait and see.
Best we can hope for is for the Feds to be stopped from pushing it on the States and letting the States handle it...for near future.
