[Snip] It wasn’t as solid of a night for CBS, though. The premiere of the final season of “The Big Bang Theory” scored only a 2.4 in the demo, down around 40% from its premiere last year and from the 2.7 average of its previous season. “Young Sheldon” (1.7) suffered an even greater year-to-year drop, falling 2.1 points from its series premiere and also down from its first season average (2.2).

The series premiere of “Magnum P.I.” fell 0.5 from its “Young Sheldon” lead-in, and scored a low 1.2 in the 9 p.m. hour, while “Bull” returned to a 0.9 – also down from its previous season premiere (1.3) and average (1.2).

It’s hard to live up to a classic, when doing a remake. SJW’s just have to ruin everything.

There were few fag producers in the room and they were chuckling they knew him at The Abbey, west hollywood’s homo bar.

I never watched Magnum, but Seleck is good in Blue Bloods.

Successful TV shows generally have a few good years and then in season 5 or 6 they are in decline. No reason to go beyond season 8 on any show. By that time it’s predictable and ready to be put down. Big Bang should have ended 3 or 4 years ago.

They have a short Hispanic actor playing Thomas Sullivan Magnum and a woman playing Higgins. What could go wrong?

Recorded Manifest, but haven’t watched it yet. Another ‘people showing up after being missing’ series. Don’t hold much interest — but last year’s short-lived The Crossing turned out better than expected.

Magnum. Never watched the original. Retooled version was okay. It does have time to get better or get worse. I rank it with the revived Hawaii-50 — watchable, but if I miss an episode, it is no big deal. H-50 still cannot decide whether it wants to be a comedy or drama.

Most run out of viable plot material and start rehashing old scripts after about 3 years. Some will change out characters. Some will change the format. It is difficult to keep the audience interested.

I watched a little bit of it last night by accident. Probably should have watched a bit more but for some reason did not.

I read that they changed Higgins to a female. I remember thinking there was one character they would never even think of changing. The Black helicopter pilot.

Actually I sort of liked the one in the original.

People still turn network TV on? I shake my head every time I see a promo for the latest doctor cop diversity-drama that is advertsied, with exploding cars and helicopters falling from the sky... Sigh. Network TV is dead. A complete waste of time and commercials.

Then the producer has to “explain” the pilot

That is always a bad sign.

They put Bull against Manifest, an interesting sounding new show. I hate it when they put good shows against one another and they knock each other off the air. I watched Magnum PI for five minutes. The new Magnum is a wimp and had none of the depth or mystery of Magnum. Plus, they have all these politically correct and socially divergent characters littering the landscape.

But I’m right. Come on, we’ve reached the Law of Diminishing Returns. Technology has pretty much reached its’ limit with the ability to create sounds and images.

They are only so many viable plots for drama or comedy.

Too many of the current crime dramas follow a similar pattern and most have a quirky medical examiner. Their goal seems to be: How many different ways they can mangle a corpse and still keep an audience.

I gave up on sitcoms decades ago when they became mostly ‘adult’ humor.
