Yeah, I know there’s a TON of other free options, but if Outlook is good enough, without spying, political backstabbing against Trump in the way that Google has been doing it, I would switch.

I have Outlook and it’s wonderful. Much better than gmail, IMO.

Doesn’t your ISP offer an email account?

Outlook is just a program. Gmail is actual email.
In any case I wouldn’t use either one of them. Get an email account somewhere and then use Thunderbird.

I won’t use anything by google if I have a viable alternative. I’ve been using Hotmail.com (one of the MS sites) for 20 years now. No problems.

I use several mail providers and as far as I know Outlook does not sift through your mail as GMail does. On the professional side of things we use Outlook exclusively, I will be moving off gmail accts as time goes forward but I do not use them for anything related to business as they are Pirates

Outlook also offers cloud storage like G Drive but again it is private and scalable as well

I've been using Outlook (hotmail) for at least 20 years. I don't download emails but read them on the web. I've had no problems with it.

I do have a gmail account but only because my phone insisted on it. I can still read my ms email via browser on phone, tablet or pc.

You’re talking two completely different things. Gmail is an account, Outlook is an e-mail program, it’s one option to look at e-mail. It’s like saying that you’re dumping FreeRepublic for Mozilla Firefox. That makes no sense.

I have outlook and use MSN as my home page. I’m very satisfied. I don’t want anything to do with Google.

I’d look into proton mail. They offer encryption to anyone provided you share a pre agreed key with the recipient or they have a proton account as well.

I had to switch from Outlook to Gmail in a corporate environment.

I hate it.

You are comparing Apples to Cumquats.

GMAIL is a web based e-mail application, and Google maintains the e-mail on their ‘cloud’.

Outlook is an e-mail computer that resides on your computer; it does not have an e-mail account in of itself.

Plenty of people can get an e-mail account with their internet provider...(for example - COMCAST, WAVECABLE, etc. Look for the @comcast.com or @wavecable.com as an indicator.) Outlook can be used to automatically connect and download e-mails onto your computer -and the e-mails can be archived on your computer - and you can reveiw them, even when not connected to the internet. OTOH -Google, yahoo, etc. - have e-mail systems that rely on the internet - and you would have to make special provisions to download and save (while most people don’t do that - they just connect to their ‘cloud e-mail’ and review them on line. BUT- if offline - they can’t check their mail or look at past e-mails.

Outlook is just another program/client to get and manage your email. You can use Outlook to grab your Gmail or other mail accounts. Outlook, IMO is better suited for business environments because of it’s features.

We have moved everything over to Office 365 and use Outlook on all of our machines. Best decision we ever made. Speaking from a company point of view of course.
