I believe there is a serious problem with PROP 6.
Here is what happened to me today. I went to register my car at an off site non DMV registration office. I ask the owner, whom I have known for years, a question. If she was going to vote YES on Prop 6? Her response "What's Prop 6?" I was shocked. So told her about PROP 6. Also, on my way out of her office, I ran into an old friend who owns a auto salvage yard.. I also asked him about Prop 6 Again he said he never heard about PROP 6........OUCH
What is Prop 6...It is the repeal of a bogus gas and vehicle tax passed by CA State legislators and signed by Governor Brown without the approval of California voters.
The gas and car tax hikes cost too much and will increase the already-high cost-of-living in California.

The roads definitely need repairs but the money is already there, they just don’t use it to repair the roads, instead they blow it on crap.
I like the “Fix Our Damn Roads” proposition in Colorado which “would require the Legislature to prioritize spending for transportation with existing sales tax revenue.” (No new taxes)

I have a relative in CA who was talking about this today. I hope you all can beat it.
Another peeve I have is car registration. I can understand paying the taxes on the value of the car one time when you first register the car even though you probably paid taxes at the dealership already.
What really bugs me is the next time the registration is due you have to pay it all over again based on the slightly depreciated value of your still new car. Grrrr. Meanwhile John Doe next door who drives a 25 yo Chevy only pays the minimum (varies by state). The older car probably produces more pollution and probably uses more gas but gets a pass at the DMV.
A far more fair method would be for people to pay the taxes at the dealership when they buy or at the DMV if they bought it used from a private party. Then every year after that would be the same for everyone; say $25 a year plus whatever fees they always add on for this or that.
Cali’s money problem with the roads isn’t because they don’t get enough money in gas and vehicle taxes, they get plenty, it’s that the pols use that money for other projects instead of what it’s intended for.
