Search engine bias - Anyone else notice?
self post | 20180915 | Dogrobber

Today I ran searches for information about the scandal in the Catholic Church. I specifically wanted news related to Italian newspaper reports which hinted that Pope Benedict's dossier on the Gay mafia within the Church was going to be made public. I got little or nothing on the mainline search engines - Google returning only generalized references to the scandal from Legacy media.

I used DuckDuckGo and found sites from alternative Traditional Catholic online sources (ChurchMilitant -OnePeterFive) listed right off on the first page. It seems that search algorithms defer. At the risk of asking a stupid question when I probably already know the answer - are other folks having similar experiences when searching the web about the scandal in the Church? Just asking.

And yeah, I really do know that I am probably asking a stupid question.

Use any search engine and search: American scientists and American inventors and see what you get.

Yes, Ive noticed bias many times. Leftist sources on any controversial topic get promoted. More popupar non Leftist sources get buried.

I’ve used google. It is extremely biased. Search for

blacks killing cops

you’ll see that it changes it to cops killing blacks.

WOW - un-frikin-believeable!!

History sure has changed, hasn't it? Thanks for enlightening us.
(or is it en-darkening?)

Quit using Google except when you absolutely have to. They are the enemy, as they’ve amply revealed, and their search results stink.

Duck should be your default search engine on your PCs and phones.

I had exactly the same experience trying to do that same search.

Do a DDG search for America scientists and American inventors.

You get the same results as every search engine.

How can every search engine produce the same results?

As demonstrated by Brietbart’s exposure of the Friday after the Trump election meeting of heads of Google, this organization, much like others in Silicon Valley is stupefied by Marxists.
Facebook, Twitter, and Google are bereft of any semblance of American values. They are caught up wholly in the throes of progressive one world tyranny. The most obvious example of this is their penchant for holding truth to a lesser standard than politically correct expression. PC, a Stalinist invention, is anathema to free speech.

I noticed in mid-July 2008, as I watched in mounting horror while google systematically and deliberately ‘disappeared’ over half a million hits on image searches for ‘obama birth certificate’.

Fahrenheit 404: google doesn’t need to burn books, they just edit the inconvenient facts out of the search results...

Because they all use Google’s data base.

We’ve gone to DuckDuckGo and the results have been the same as Google as far as the order. I heard that DDG actually queries via Google, but there’s some block that protects privacy. Don’t know if it’s true.

I miss Alta Vista back in the ‘90s. If you put something in quotes, that’s exactly how the search went — the exact phrase. Google gets rid of the quotes and just searches for those words, switches them around, etc. Hate Google.

It5 isn’t just on search issues. These days Google returns very poor quality results and mostly ignores your search terms except I tr mist general sense.

Wikipedia too.

I’d have to go search for screen grabs I took some time ago about Earth Day.

They’ve scrubbed Ira Einhorn, they’ve scrubbed the list of ridiculous predictions from the 70’s.

Turns out at least one of those scrubs is by an “official” wikipedist (now retired), but when you look them up, you find they regularly attended Wikipedia conferences where apparently PC is king.

I particularly recall one conference being touted as “friendly”, IOW, no contrarians.

Yes.

“Google” ANY political subject and the only “hits” support the leftist narrative of the globalist freaks who run Google.
Dollars to donuts Soros money and Red Chinese money grease this inequity.

I’ve clicked on several DuckDuck search results and they wouldn’t go there, nothing happened when clicking on them. Forgot which ones they were but strange.

Yes, it’s harder to get real, specific information.

For Google use Advanced Search:

https://www.google.com/advanced_search

Putting “blacks killing cops” in the ‘this exact word or phrase:’ box yields very different results than the default search.

https://www.google.com/search?as_q=&as_epq=blacks+killing+cops&as_oq=&as_eq=&as_nlo=&as_nhi=&lr=&cr=&as_qdr=all&as_sitesearch=&as_occt=any&safe=images&as_filetype=&as_rights=

And use the filters, All, Videos, News, etc, and the Tools, which allows filtering by date. Use the Custom Range to cut off the most recent fake news.

These don’t work exactly, but results are closer to what they used to be.
