Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R-Texas) former campaign spokesperson said that it’s “possible” for Cruz to lose his reelection bid to Democrat Beto O’Rourke.

Rick Tyler, who served as Cruz’s former communications director during his 2016 presidential run, appeared on MSNBC Sunday and admitted that Cruz could lose in the red state.

“As the former Cruz strategist, it does seem as though the signs are that Ted Cruz might actually lose this race?” MSNBC host Kasie Hunt asked.

Tyler said that even in a predominately Republican state, O’Rourke is posing a real challenge for the senator.

“It’s possible

And what part of that, as told, was preventing Alabama from keeping the Dem out of the seat?

You stay home = you voted for the Dem.

No one cares about hurt feelings in some intra-party dispute.

The Dems would need 500,000 more votes to even be close.

Trump going to Texas to help Cruz is not a good sign and is indicative of a continued growth of the “gimme free stuff” leftists.

"but the leadership is throwing the fight. They'd be quite content with Ds in power."

It definitely looks that way.

The Sasse / Kasich wing of the party is desperate to return to power.

That won’t make up for his behavior during the campaign to certain voters...

He is not struggling because TX is turning blue, but because he alienated a lot of voters.

They may come home in the end, but for now they are not

Maybe we should believe it if this is what it takes to go out and vote. Complacency kills us every time and right now we have a complacency problem. The Democrats don't. They're energized.

And the brain-addled never-Cruzers on FR will rejoice if that does happen. They’d rather see conservatism fail than have Cruz serving in any political capacity. Their seething hatred for Cruz has no bounds.

Cruz fired this guy for spreading a false story about Rubio. Then this guy skitters over to MSNBC to declare it’s possible that Cruz could lose. Wonder of wonders./s

The only way O'Rourke wins if is Republicans stay home. I think the vast majority of Republicans know we need that seat and that staying home is NOT an option.

Not perfect but 100 times better than O'Rourke.

Strange was probably the worst endorsement Trump ever made.

Trump's endorsements are simple: He will endorse the most-electable candidate who will support his MAGA agenda and his judicial appointments. Luther Strange qualified. The incumbent will always have an advantage.

In the end however, it were Trump's own voters who screwed him. On the individual level, 650,000 Trump voters loathed Roy Moore but they were all certain he'd still win without their votes so they stayed home. I doubt you'd find any Trump voters who voted for Jones. And I'll bet every one of those 650,000 "individuals" who stayed home wished they chose differently as they watched the results come in.

Complacency killed us in Alabama and it could very well kill us in Texas.

“former” spokesman

This is probably more about trying to hurt Trump than anything. NeverTrumpers are as bad as the left, if not worse

"About this time 2 years ago, there were reports that Texas was in danger of flipping over to Hitlery. Did it happen?"

It did not happen, but are we whistling past the graveyard in 2018?

Cruz is a miserable, not charismatic campaigner. Throw in the principle of demographics and Texas could become a swing state like North Carolina.

The solution is to fight apathy by GOTV activities. Yet Cruz and Yertle the Turtle seem content with making the least possible effort.
