Where do we go after Trump? This question becomes more pertinent as the soap opera administration seeks its own dramatic demise. Yet before they can seize power from the president and his now subservient party, the Democrats need to agree on what will replace Trumpism. Conventional wisdom implies an endless battle between pragmatic, corporate Clintonites on one side, and Democratic socialists of the Bernie brand. Yet this conflict could resolve itself in a new, innovative approach that could be best described as oligarchal socialism. Oligarchal socialism allows for the current, ever-growing concentration of wealth and power in a few hands notably tech and financial moguls while seeking ways to ameliorate the reality of growing poverty, slowing social mobility and indebtedness. This will be achieved not by breaking up or targeting the oligarchs, which they would fight to the bitter end, but through the massive increase in state taxpayer support.

Er, things are changing.
Typical “solution” from our “betters” - raise taxes. Raise taxes, not on the rich. So who gets taxed? You guessed it, the middle class.
“Insanity is doing the same thing over and over, expecting different results.” Albert Einstein
First thing we have to do is to replace every Bush League Republican that is hell bent on turning the USA into North Mexico.
Just as predicted by the Founding Fathers during the Constitutional debates....
” Raise taxes, not on the rich. So who gets taxed? “
I am glad someone else here agrees with me. The threat from socialism doe snot come from the poor but from the rich(at least currently). I think the more we lower their taxes the more liberal they become. It is time to step out of the old paradigm and realize that things have changed and we need to change with it. We need to start raising their taxes. The gang of 8 is probably the most important event in my life to shakeup my existing view of the world.
America is moving towards a kind of fascism - big government and state control over much of the economy and behavior of individuals, with support and buy-in from well-positioned businessmen and elitist cronies
Things are hanging by a thread.
“Where do we go after Trump?”
We either continue finding and electing more like him, or else we will suffer the wrath of the establishment amd democrats - who will be extremely harsh with “pay back”.
I see ugly civil war in our future. Very ugly
Flat Tax for everyone. No deductions, NO MORE IRS. And everyone pays taxes, as everyone benefits from what the taxes pay for................
We’ve been moving away from socialism for the last few decades.
“America is moving towards a kind of fascism”
I think the only difference with the old fascism is replacing the single leader with a rotating puppet that is elected every four years in a extravaganza election that provides an illusion of the power of the people. Look at how well the Bushs, Obamas, and the Clintons get along. They temporarily lost control in 2016.
Bingo!
I see ugly civil war in our future. Very ugly
There is going to be a fight, let’s get it started and over with.
Having said that we don’t know exactly what it will look like.
Yep.
Conservatives need not be consulted. We'll all be buried in mass graves, as Leftists always do after their takeovers. That why Hillary labeled us "Deplorables" and they constantly call us racists, etc... one must dehumanize the enemy to make it easier for the masses to stand idly by during the mass murders.
Hanging is the traditional penalty for treason. I liked your first choice on wording.
Yeah, that was our job in the Primaries. We didn't do so well. Only 6 GOP Incumbents lost, and only 21 more "retired"... some big names left, of course... and McCain did us a solid for once... but there should have been 60-100 RINOs booted, not just 27. The RNC certainly wasn't going to help make that happen. That was on US, and we did a piss-poor job in 2018.
FULL PENSION, NO JAIL TIME
No one’s been executed for treason since the Civil War. The Constitutional requirements are so high that other charges, such as espionage, are far more practical.
Even in overt cases, like Jane Fonda and John Kerry, there’s no political will.
