Pattern was good enough with 00 Buck in it prior to cut. It should be fine now.

Sawed-off shotguns are illegal in some states (California), so it depends.

If you check on the Cal DOJ website the shotgun barrel/barrels can be shortened to not less than 18 inches and/or overall gun length of 26 inches.

How big do you think the pattern is at the length of the longest hallway in your home?

From where I'm laying in bed and point at the door is about 12-14'. Will that work for me?

Use a Tile saw, with cooling water running.

Didn’t have one. Had to use another type. It worked beautifully.

I had a short barrelled Franchi. It could be converted to either pump or auto. I can’t recall the model name right off hand.

It felt a little crude in the hand. It had a cylinder choke or lack of choke. I think it was 18 inches. To my surprise it shot very well at the skeet range. I did about as well with it as I did my Beretta skeet gun.

I particularly like the short barreled side by side hammer-less with ejectors. The lack of a pump or auto action makes them a lot shorter overall.

“My father had one he kept down under the seat of the truck.”

Nearly fifty years ago my neighbor had a cut down dbl-barrel that he carried in his truck. He worked night-shift on the railroad near Union Station in Washington, DC.
Locals from the neighborhood would occasionally get frisky and fill orders for their Midnight Auto Supply from the employee parking lot.
One night enough was enough. Catching a few thieves nearby, my neighbor cranked off a few rounds of Thunder & Light. Thieves beat feet until they noted that the pellets only made it 30-40 feet out of the barrel. Next it was neighbors turn to beat feet. Enthusiastically so! No idea whether it was an old lot of shells or simply the wrong load. Neighbor did get his money’s worth retelling the story.

I have the Mossberg 590s with the heat shield.

8+1 pump.

$299

I liked it so much I bought a spare/extra and I now have two of them.

If it has a BUTTSTOCK on it, it can’t be short than an overall length of 26”. Make sure you give accurate information here.

It had to be bad ammo.

I have a Mossberg 500.

I don’t know the answer, but I’d guess 2” or less.

However it’s much easier to handle in tight quarters.

May I suggest a Mossberg Shockwave 12 ga pump which comes with a 14” barrel. It carries load of 5+1 of 2-3/4” or 8+1 of 1-3/4” Aguila Mini Shells. Purchase off the shelf with no modifications needed.

With MY 18.5in barrel and 00 buck I get a 4-6 inch pattern at 25 feet.

Perfect for those .33in pellets, all 15 of them at 1200fps.

It’s like an entire Glock 9mm magazine with one trigger pull.

Kicks like a pissed off mule though.

To all of us who know guns, if faced with a double-barreled 12ga at close range, and upon being informed it has 00 Buck in it, one tends to find a way to de-escalate that disagreement or run like hell.

Informed? Nope, that is contrary to Tuco's Wisdom:

“When you have to shoot, shoot! Don’t talk!”

That’s the dilemma for the first couple shots.

Do you want something that will go through the sheetrock... or something that will throw a bit of a pattern?

I have a sheetrock wall between me and the hallway. Hate to go too light on the first load.
