Had my first Cadbury milk chocolate bar when my dad was stationed in England from 1964-67. They were a lot better than Hershey’s. Same with Cadbury Caramello bars.
You're exactly right. Also, this country was once full of emigres who left their home countries seeking freedom, and came to America for the boundless opportunities to make something of themselves.
They were a better cut of people than those who stayed behind.
Daisy Dukes are all American!
There is a book from several years ago that touches on the Miracle of America - “The 5000 Year Lap”:
“In The 5000 Year Leap: A Miracle That Changed the World, Discover the 28 Principles of Freedom our Founding Fathers said must be understood and perpetuated by every people who desire peace, prosperity, and freedom. Learn how adherence to these beliefs during the past 200 years has brought about more progress than was made in the previous 5000 years. These 28 Principles include The Genius of Natural Law, Virtuous and Moral Leaders, Equal Rights—Not Equal Things, and Avoiding the Burden of Debt.”
Good list but “light beer” is a no no. If you want to drink cheap light beer just pour grain alcohol into the soda pope of your choice. It is vile.
IPA forever and real bitter is my brew.
I lived in the UK and drank good beer. When I came home my beloved nation was a wasteland for good beer. Today our many micro brewers turn out most excellent drink that would be cherished in any English pub.
The major brewers are now trying to compete with the Micro Brewers. Their brew is most inferior to what I drink from my local micro brewer but is better than the crap they brewed years ago.
The major brewers depend on advertising campaigns for sales. The Micro Brewers are totally dependent on the taste of a good brew. The Micros always win. As they are brewing in small batches they innovate with new tastes. If it is good the public buys and drinks it. If it is not good, they do not brew it again.
Rock and Roll is also an amalgam; gospel/folk/country just as important as blues/jazz.
“If you ask me to name the proudest distinction of Americans, I would choose- because it contains all the others—the fact that they were the people who created the phrase ‘to make money.’ No other language or nation had ever used these words before; men had always thought of wealth as a static quantity- to be seized, begged, inherited, shared, looted, or obtained as a favor. Americans were the first to understand that wealth has to be created. The words ‘to make money’ hold the essence of human morality.”

You already failed by not adding Mustang in that first sentence. Mustang is a name I can say anywhere in the world and they will know what I mean. Camaro - no, Corvette - some, but Mustang - ALWAYS.
We also invented the motorhome...
Gee, you left out a few million things from your list!
How about...
We invented alternating current.
We invented the vacuum tube, the transistor, and the integrated circuit.
We invented frequency modulation.
We invented the laser.
We invented the LED.
We invented the smartphone.
We invented GPS.
We invented the music synthesizer.
We invented movies.
We invented sound-on-film recording.
We invented color television.
We invented wireless remote control.
The first complete, written national constitution.
All else stems from that.
Are ‘55 Chevys on the list?
Corvette *has* to be. :)
Joseph Gayetty invented toilet paper but Charmin made it soft......
Agree - particularly the ‘66 model with the 427 mill....always loved the look of that car and 425 or so ponies helped the impression....;-}.
