A British woman plunged to her death, along with her partner, while taking a selfie on a picturesque wall in Portugal, according to local authorities.
Perth man Michael Kearns, 33, Louise Benson, 37, his British partner, fell 30 metres off a beach wall and were found by shocked locals early on Tuesday morning.
Rui Pereira da Terra, the captain of the maritime authority in Cascais, said the two victims appeared to have lost their balance while taking a photograph overlooking Fishermens Beach.
Everything seems to indicate that the fall happened when they were probably trying to take a selfie, he said.
"As we found a mobile phone on the wall, our theory is that they were taking a selfie, but they dropped the phone and leaned to grab it and fell," Mr Pereira da Terra told the Portuguese Lusa news agency.
Locals have said the wall is dangerous, and have asked for something to be done about it.

Homos have partners, people in England have partners, and yet I pine for the days when only cowboys had partners and there was no pudding involved.
Selfies are dangerous.
Enact selfie control!!!
The title seems a bit disjointed, given that there were two (2) deaths, not (1) one.
Yeah, but it is spelled with a “d” not a “t”
“Dumb ways to die....”
Death by selfie not as cool as death by stereo.
Two very preventable deaths.
Take selfies at dangerous places at your own risks.
Tear down this sea wall!
Death by chocolate is more my speed.
I don’t get the way they wrote this. Paraphrasing that first sentence it reads like “A woman died taking a selfie. Oh yeah, and some guy too if that matters to you.”
She is photogenic. I hope she left behind a lot of nice pictures.
The wall is NOT dangerous. People sitting on the wall put themselves in danger. The government is NOT responsible for all of peoples’ actions.
Or Death by Monkeys.
Charles Darwin please pick up the white courtesy phone....
After the success of the “selfie stick”, perhaps a new accessory is needed: the “selfie safety harness”.
There once was a fellow from Perth...........
The very last one is probably quite remarkable.
I tell my boys, I can fix a lot of things with brains and money, but I cant fix stupid.
