The Mormon missionary jailed in Venezuela over bogus claims of government espionage has spoken of his prison hell and how his new wife was electrocuted and tortured to elicit a false confession about her American husband.
In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com, Josh Holt said he's 'grateful to God' he and Venezuelan wife Thamy Caleno, who was also jailed, survived their two-year ordeal.
Speaking from his home in Riverton, Utah, Josh tells how callous Venezuelan intelligence operatives roughed him up and terrified him with staged fake executions.

Not everyone understands just how bad it has become.
It was always a little rough around the edges. Now it is a full-blown mafia state.
I had to fix my tagline. I’m not sure how that hijab language got in there.
Venezuela or Utah?
I don’t feel sorry for him. He took a chance going to a lawless and utterly corrupt country. Looks like the LDS Church disavowed him. They could not hand over a bribe to get him out?
Where was anything about the Mormon Church ‘disavowing’ him?
If he had been Catholic, would you have expected the Catholic Church to have paid the ‘bribe’
He wasn’t there as a Mormon missionary, just as a private citizen to bring his new wife back to the US. They were just waiting for her visa to be issued.
The only ‘bribe’ ask for was to the wife for $10,000. Doesn’t sound like anyone else knew about the ‘bribe’. In fact the article says his parents wished they had known about it.

You forgot Detroit.
To get out of Venezuela, many women there would marry Jeffrey Dahmer
If he lost weight in prison, he must have been really big before. He's still pretty husky. It probably helped him survive.
Son’s best friend is living in Memphis. He can walk to Beale Street which apparently isn’t a good thing.
Maybe include Chicago?

You must be new around here. Otherwise, you’d know that reading the articles is seriously frowned upon.
Also forgot California!
as long as he keeps aware of his surroundings he’ll be ok. and don’t go alone at night unless he’s really big and scary.
He thinks he is bullet-proof. 4 years of Army ROTC didn’t help. Wants to be career military.
Oy. Bullet proof and Memphis don’t go together! I hope he is careful there. I have a 2nd cousin working at St. Judes, his dad thought Memphis was going to be great. NOT so much.
