In last night’s primaries, all 8 incumbent Republicans who voted for the omnibus won

It’s great to be an incumbent Republican. You can break your promises to voters, vote to massively increase government spending, and time and time again sell out the conservative base — and for the most part, you don’t need to worry about losing a Republican primary election.

Times like this, with all that's going on, I wish I had some legit money. Not necessarily billions, but at least enough millions to fund and not have to worry about the money I spend. In this case, I would hire something like Cambridge Analytica or some other polling company and have them descend onto these districts. And I'd have them go door to door to everyone that voted for these incumbents and ask them, WHY.

Why did they vote to send the same clowns that got us into the mess, back again? I'd love to know the answers.

What we need is conservative leadership in Congress. We someone from the Freedom Caucus to be Speaker.

History shows that American voters -- even many who call themselves "conservatives" -- are perfectly comfortable with a fiscally irresponsible U.S. government.

As long as THEY get a piece of the money flowing around from all that fiat currency monetary policy, that is.

Yep. Too many believe they are entitled to everything they desire and shouldn’t have to pay for it. And to government is willing to accommodate them by printing imaginary money. It won’t have a good ending.

Because the middle is what elects candidates, not the conservative few represented on FR. In general, the middle leans right, so these turkeys look like good choices to most folks.

I will vote for the more conservative challenger to my RINO in the primary next month but I’m not holding my breath.

Human nautre. The voters in each district expect their representatives in congress, regardless of political party, to bring home as much bacon as possible. Let the other guys fight for conservative principles.

I think a lot of voters are afraid that the challenger might win the primary, but not the general. E

They figure the Rep in office has already proven he can beat the Dem challenger.

They are afraid to risk losing the seat altogether, especially if the challenger isn’t well funded.

....and after the election the House, including the lame ducks, will nominate who they want to serve as the new Speaker...and after the new Congress is seated, all the freshmen will learn that if they want prime committee assignments, they will have to vote for that candidate who was nominated by the last Congress. Any resistance will be dealt with harshly.

One time, a long time ago, I worked for a local government. The town manager had a big meeting with all 500 employees and said they had to lay some people off. I stood up and volunteered to take a pay decrease (basically it was like getting 2 unpaid days off a month) and suggested that if everyone did that, no one would have to be fired.

It went over like a lead balloon. The firings went well.

I’d give up every exemption on my tax forms as long as everyone else did the same and if it was ONLY used to climb us out of the debt hole. However, I think most people know deep down that the people taking the most from the budget are never going to do that, so why should they. And if you aren’t going to demand it, then why not keep your powerful legislator at the table to ensure you get whatever scraps you can, right up until the end?

Yes! My vote goes to Jim Jordan of Ohio. Sadly, we'll probably end up with Kevin McCarthy...

Because everyone worries about spending until you start telling them what your going to cut. Then they run over and vote for the Dem.

Until Conservatives start accepting that you must advocate cutting EVERYTHING, including their sacred cows, you are never going to get voters to agree with you on cutting spending. It will always be “keep this spending I like, go cut that spending I don’t like” the result of which nothing gets cut as the “compromise”

Movement Conservative have been riding this hobby horse since the 1970s and voters simply don’t care.

Sad fact of the matter is that most voters like pork, and will continue voting for it. At least until the day the checks start bouncing.

Well, when you get less than 5% voter turnout, this is the kind of crap that keeps incumbents in office.

As long as people vote their pocketbooks, congress will try to stay in power by filling them from the treasury.

We don't need more open seats to lose to the Democrats!

it is much harder for the Democrats to take a seat held by an incumbent.

That might have been what the voters were thinking.

Because most people pay as little attention to politics as possible; they are simply trying to pay their bills and provide for their families. They vote for the guy whom they met at a barbeque, or at least whose name is familiar.

I will send you my exorbitant bull, I mean, BILL.
