The religious paintings of Jacopo Bellini (1400-1470), his sons Giovanni (1430-1516) and Gentile (1429-1507), his son-in-law Andrea Mantegna (14311506), his student Giorgione (1477-1510), and Giorgione's student, Titian (ca1490-1576). The music is from Spem in Alium by Thomas Tallis (1505-1585), a British composer.
I would have fitted in Tintoretto if the music had been a bit longer. It wasn't a loss since I wasn't fond of his work, and learning that he used dead bodies as models cinched it. He was also known for fast and furious. One quote was that he could paint more in two days than the writer could in two years. Tintoretto's father had tried to get him into Titian's studio, but the boy's style indicated he'd be hard put to work in Titian's style.
Polyphony is my favorite to listen to and sing.
It’s been “heaven” listening to it over and over again as I worked. SO many years since I sang. Color me green with envy.
PING
It is the only choral music where the Bass, Tenor and Alto parts get to sing the melody.
I LOVED being a soprano.
I love this, Mairdie! More! More!

a definite ping...
I do have a ping list if you want to get on it.
Also, Savage, I am about to do the Non-Religious art of the same period. I just haven’t settled on the music.
Thank you, mairdie, sublime music to accompany these beautiful paintings. Some more favorite than others. I love Giorgione!
(On a side note, what do you think of Nicholas Roerich? I love the mysticism of his paintings)
Put me on the ping! Thanks!
done; you’re most welcome.
YES! Giorgione! He died on an island where they quarantined plague victims. So incredibly sad. The idea that his beautiful work was destroyed by the canals is awful. I also like Giovanni’s work more than his brother’s or father’s.
Hadn’t remembered Roerich but his work is lovely. I’m very fond of Boris Vallejo from fantasy art. Glorious minimally dressed characters.

Fantasy art at its best. I like his use of colors, so earthly. Thank you, mairdie.
Thanks back to Arleen, who introduced him to me. She was big into World Con, where his work was highlighted. Here’s some of her art.

Wonderful, as always!
Thank you for putting these videos together.
They are just terrific.
I truly am so pleased that you like them. Thank you.
I’m moving over to the newer machine (or perhaps Roku) to view this, kudos!
