Several good discussion points about Turkish society, which is more complex than Erdogan's rhetoric would suggest.

Pretty much it’s the same in Iran, but the Islamists have complete control there.

Islam is similar to socialism in that it’s all about worldly power. And unless you’re the socialist/Muslim with it, there’s no real point.

Most Iranians are atheists or secret Zoasterians.

This is a hopeful sign for civil society.
It’s hard to keep people dedication due to isolation, in the age of the internet and Facebook type sites.

Even a garbage-crap culture (e.g. Kardashians or whatever) would be a step up for those Islamic-infested craphole countries.

Mohammedans are a socialist society. Those at the top enjoy wealth and hedonism. Those at the bottom get crumbs and tyranny. And since their moon god is not a real god he can’t help - in fact, being Satan, he loves tyranny. I would want out too. It’s great to be free, forgiven and relatively comfortable - praying that many of them will give up the moon god for the real one.

If they passed a law over there that said that you cannot punish people for leaving a religion the number of muslims would start dropping like a stone.

The history of modern Turkey is NOT Islamic, but secular. Atta Turk successfully fought to kept the society secular, including the government.

In short, the people are not accustomed to being ruled by Islam. they prefer secular.

You are right, but more secular people tend not to reproduce, which, over time, gives the religious an advantage.

I made several trips into Turkey in the 1990s....even spending two weeks at some beach resort there. I have to say that most Turks are business-driven individuals. The business side, and their family....were always priority number one....religion was way down on the list when you traveled around and observed people in general.

It was a place where you had remarkable ‘adventures’. I flew in once....having to use a taxi from the airport to the hotel (15 minute ride). I get in the taxi, and kinda notice there’s like three fair sized holes in the floor....all softball size. In broken English, the cab guy is reassuring me with ‘no problem’. By the 2nd minute in the cab, I realize there’s virtually no shocks on the car and with each bounce....we are lifted about six inches in the air.

On the resort trip, the hotel had a bus they’d haul folks over into the local town (5-cents per ride). They’d taken a 1960s school bus, and literally chopped the whole roof and windows off, so it was a convertible bus. But this was way out in some rural area....half the roads are dirt, and by the time you got to town....your mouth was full of grit and dirt. Some kid would be at the exit of the bus when you got off, with a fresh clean wet towel, and you’d wipe yourself off.

Perhaps state sponsered religion and theocracies destroy faith because the people see religion turned into politics, competition for power, money, and tyranny. Maybe compulsion leads to distrust and rebellion.
