"Deadline Hollywood" tells us that Stephen Colbert bested Fallon & Kimmel with his interview last evening with James Comey. They give us the percentages...but, no number of viewers. Why?
Simply because there are not enough TV late night viewers tuning in to these failed shows, to talk about. Shucks, Johnny Carson used to get 9,000,000 viewers a night and once drew 17,000,000 folks watching. Even though the USA population has increased to over 330,000,000 million people,,,they just ain't watching Colbert, Fallon or Kimmel.
I suspect Colbert, maybe got 3,000,000, viewers...that's one percent of the USA population. Fact is, with two boring, winos (Comey & Colbert) drinking their wine out of paper cups, failed to produce a blockbuster audience. Second fact is" James Comey has had his fifteen minutes of fame. No one gives a darn hoot about him or what he has to say.
you guess on the size of the audience yet make a comparison to JC. You have been warned.

Comments?
This stuff is visual graffiti.
While Johnny Carson was the best, Jay Leno was at least watchable. Jimmy Fallon, on the other hand, is just too pathetic to waste my time on. His blatant political bias is disgusting. Not quite as bad as Seth Meyers, but still pretty bad. There isn’t anything I waste my time on after the local news ends at 10:35 pm.
I don’t watch these late night guys, only see clips of them, Or comments on sites such as this one.
But the impression I get, is that they have become increasingly political, compared to the old days with Johnny Carson, and that the political bent is always liberal.
I watched Johnny back in the day, and he just didn’t do the mean spirited overly political pot shots at conservatives and Republicans.
I agree. Carson was one of the best with Leno 2nd but this latest crop are big losers IMHO.
Late night TV is so Last Century
It’s Hate Night TV
The only one I find remotely entertaining and funny is Fallon.
He's just not funny.
He tries. And I tried to watch him a couple of times, but his delivery is terrible, the show's writing is terrible, and his guests don't have much to work with. He can't carry an audience, except those who desperately want to like him to begin with.
Seth Myers was adequate on SNL, in 6-8 minute chunks. An hour? I'd rather eat lint. And I'll not get started on Kimmel.
If some network wants to make money, it ought to show Johnny Carson reruns. I’d stay up to watch Johnny. Again.
I don't watch much TV, only see clips.
I don't get that impression about Jimmy Fallon.
Are you sure you're not thinking of Jimmy Kimmel?
The numbers suggest most of the country has followed this regression.
Numbers are easy to find:
http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com/weekly-ratings/late-night-ratings-april-9-13-2018-the-late-late-show-rises/
And yes the numbers are down. Numbers are down across the board. People have choices. It was easy for Johnny to get 9 million viewers a night, he was competing with 2 other networks and sleep. Now they’re competing with hundreds of other networks, and dozens of streaming services, plus DVR delayed viewing, and sleep.
I like the skits Fallon did with Trump. They were good-natured fun.
I also got a real kick out of this...
I watched it over and over while concentrating on a different member each time.
And this century is no better.
He got a 3.5 rating or 3.5 percent of the population. Around 13 million viewers.
Antenna TV if you can get it in your area.
