Can we work in 100cm?
There are many areas in the Phoenix valley that have lowered in elevation due to subterranean conditions such as lowered aquifer. The area around Luke AFB east oh well he White Tank Mountains has settled 16 feet in the last 80 years. It is an area 30 miles by 20 miles in size.
Funny thing about cultures that embrace Islam, they all go to Shiite.
They give it the old college try =>
“A tsunami of human-made troubles in the Indonesian capital poses an imminent threat to the citys survival. And it has to deal with mounting threats from climate change.”

Great catch... I’m not surprised the New York Times tried to tie it to global warming. What was surprising was this piece was trying to tell the truth.
Liars in the press say the same thing about Miami - that higher water levels are ‘global warming’ not ‘sinking’ - - same with New Orleans.
We ask, “have you ever seen a glass of water with water higher on one side than the other?” but they are hopeless. Thanks for sharing...
it is not the ocean rising but the ground dropping that is causing the problem.

Jakarta is not sinking! Jakarta's land may be eroding but it cannot sink.

Currently, Bangkok is only 0.5-2 metres above the water. The metropolitan area is sitting precariously on what was once marshland. That means the city is resting on a layer of soft clay that is highly compressible. Besides the natural land subsidence, decades of excessive groundwater pumping and rapid development have put more pressure on the foundation. Nearly 5,000 tall buildings, nine million vehicles, roads and rail systems have contributed to the problem.
A study by Thailands National Reform Council in 2015 showed Bangkok risks being submerged in less than 15 years.
Much of Bangkok is already lower than the sea level. Every year, it sinks by 1-2 centimetres, and some areas by even more. But that doesnt mean Bangkok is submerged, said Dr Anond Snidvongs from Geo-Informatics and Space Technology Development Agency (GISTDA), a governmental organisation that monitors floods and land subsidence in Thailand. There are mechanisms that can help prevent that.
“Jakarta is sinking man, and I don’t wanna swim.”
