Apple is set to introduce a new website dedicated to the management of Apple IDs and it will allow users to download a copy of all of the data stored by the company, according to a new report by Bloomberg.
That data includes a users contacts as well as any photos, calendar information and even system or application level preferences. If its stored by Apple or one of its apps, the new Apple ID website will let a user download it.
Alongside the en-masse data downloading, the new website will also allow users to carry out more mundane tasks such as correct personal details, disable their Apple ID account, or if things are really dire, delete it completely and permanently.
All of these changes are coming into place, at least partially, to allow Apple to comply with a new law that comes into force in Europe on May 25th. The General Data Protection Regulation will regulate how data is handled by companies.
According to the report, we can expect the new tools to go live in Europe initially in early May, with them making the move internationally at a later date.
Alongside the new Apple ID website, the recently released iOS 11.3 also includes new privacy improvements with new splash screens that are displayed when Apples apps are opened, complete with information on what data Apple collects and for what purpose.
Apple has long been a proponent of privacy for users and their data, something that has often also been to the detriment of some of its services. Siri, for example, is less capable than competing offerings due to the fact it does not have access to some of the data required to offer a more full feature-set.
It would be nice to be able to change details of our user's account details ourselves with out involving Apple in the process when we move, change phone numbers, etc., but a user could always call 1-800-MY-APPLE to have Apple change anything in your AppleID as needed, but why bother Apple support to have to do it. It would be good to be able to change the primary Apple ID email, when the original sign-up email is no longer available, though, as is the case for me, and several of my family members. Combining AppleID's under a master AppleID would also be a welcome change, or just combining multiple AppleIDs from devices that were started with two different IDs and have purchases made under each of the devices' IDs.
If you want on or off the Mac Ping List, Freepmail me.
To then have a new database of those who did this.

Internet bill of rights....
Why not use Google’s free VPN to connect. You can download it from NSA.COM or from Facebook.
I guess that is one way to get your information out in the open.
Bookmark.
I see an unintended consequence for users. If they purchased songs or movies, deleting their AppleID means the user loses all access to the purchased songs and movies. (Unless they defeat the anti-piracy features, but that's another topic.)
I hope they add the ability to merge Apple ID accounts into one account.
LOL.
“It would be good to be able to change the primary Apple ID email,”
I think you can already do this online.
If not, I have, in the past, recovered an Apple ID over the phone with a sympathetic Apple tech supervisor, by reading back to him numerous App Store purchases, for which I was able to provide the actual credit card transaction ID numbers linked to my name as well as to the old and current Apple IDs.
Best of luck.
YMMV.
