I, for one, am really worried that NO testing of the sex lives of gay cockroaches will not be studied without regard to expense.

Air traffic controllers and technicians to keep them going are essential. Most employees will get extra paid vacation days.

It’s not really “essential” it’s “budgeted with earmarks and so we don’t actually need to pass anything to keep it going”.

Will the USPS suspend deliveries of junk mail and catalogs? Oh, the horror...

It’s better to not be essential. Essential employees work for their pay. Non-essential get a paid vacation. Taxpayers would be better off if they were all classified essential.

The Right needs to wake up and realize our mission is to RESTORE OUR FREE CONSTITUTIONAL REPUBLIC.
THAT MEANS dismantling the unconstitutional 80% portion of the federal government.
THAT MEANS...a lot of people leave D.C with no job. Temporary sadness for them, GREAT rejoicing for America.
Most government services are unconstitutional and need to be abolished.

We'd all be richer in freedom AND finances.

If I were a federal employee I would be scared stiff that The SchumerShutDown would id me as nonessential. Might not be there by next Christmas.

Not a good move by Schumer and his minions.

Maybe in 30 days President Trump via an executive order can proclaim that there is no need for non essential federal employees.

So he is giving them another 30 days with pay to look for new non government jobs.

After that they will no longer be just non essential, they will be out of a paycheck.

the commissary at Andrews AFB will be open through Monday to sell off all of the perishables. After that, they don’t know. I got that from the base Facebook site. However the good news, is that the PX and “more importantly,” the Class Six store, because it is part of AFFES, and thus Non-appropriated funds, WILL be open during the entire duration of the government shutdown.

Go to the Joint Base Andrews Facebook site for updates on what is open and closed there during the government shutdown. I expect that other posts will be doing the same on their FB pages.

Just some truth with humor for folks.

Any federal service that is not essential should not be a federal service.

We have a good young USPS man. He delivers what you commented on, Wed and Thu..

I keep a big blue recycle garbage container by our car port door. Each day a large handful or several handfuls of junk mail goes into big blue, and triple/quadruple that amount on Wed/Thursday.

We guess that they deliver the junk mail on Wed/Thur for weekend shopping.

We did get mail today. A letter of some relevance from our bank.

Read my reply #19 posted shortly after your post:

If they really po President Trump, he might follow my suggestion to lay all non essentials off.

I’m more alarmed over how many are non-essential. Let’s get rid of them.

List of federal agencies and departments...

https://www.libertariannews.org/2010/12/02/list-of-federal-bureaucracies/

I think eliminating half of them would be a good start.

Maybe this government shutdown would be a good opportunity to not restart them.

>>If I were a federal employee I would be scared stiff that The SchumerShutDown would id me as nonessential. Might not be there by next Christmas.<<

If you were a federal employee the BEST thing to happen would be classified as “nonessential.” That means a paid vacation as every federal worker gets paid whether at work or not. There MIGHT be a delay in getting your paycheck but that is good too since there is a provision in the law that late checks get additional $$ added.

Showdown is a wonderful thing for federal “workers.”
