Donald Trump will be first US president in 45 years to speak at pro-life march

DONALD Trump will become the first US president to address an anti-abortion march in 45 years on Friday.

The move highlights his shift in recent years from a supporter of women's access to abortion to, now, a powerful opponent.

Trump is due to address the march in Washington via satellite from the White House Rose Garden on Friday afternoon.

Ronald Reagan, Trump's fellow Republican, made supportive remarks to the march in 1987 via telephone, while George W. Bush, another Republican, twice did the same, in 2003 and 2004.

"The President is committed to protecting the life of the unborn, and he is excited to be part of this historic event," Sarah Sanders, the White House press secretary, told reporters on Wednesday.

Trump was previously a supporter of women's access to abortion.

First one to have the guts to speak. Although I wouldn’t exclude Reagan who I’m sure had a reason if there was a rally at all.

Yes there was a reason. He had survived an assassination attempt and Secret Service probably convinced him not to attend personally.

The excuses given to him are so tiresome. Trump is a trillion times better then him.

Perhaps tiresome to some, but you cannot deny that it is a plausible excuse and would certainly have been appropriate as well. A lot of people do not realize just how close to death he actually was from that assassination attempt.

There were only 2 things that President Reagan did that I rejected. The first was turning tail and running after the Beirut barracks attack in Lebanon, and the second of course was blanket amnesty for illegals. He got a somewhat poor mark in my book also for his appointment of Sandra Day O'Connor to the Supreme Court. But he then rectified that with his appointment of Antonin Scalia. 8>)

As for President Trump being a trillion times better than President Reagan, that may come to pass, however, it hasn't as of yet. So far President Trump is on path to accomplish being the better President, but way too soon yet for that to be the case, in my opinion.

The premise of this article is FALSE. President Bush 43 addressed us by telephone, the 1995 equivalent of live-streaming.

I didn't have to look it up, either. That was just for the 'bots. I WAS THERE.

It’s been all over the news, Trump was personally there then. Lots of things are said on the phone.

Actually, at the state-level, the Republicans have done much, it’s for the National party to get in line and it has been in their platform and is in the platform of most states, I think Mass and NV. have bolted.

Oh how I wish they would use the term "preborn" instead of "unborn".

Trump was personally where, when?

I was on the Mall, yesterday, at the March. Trump addressed us by live-stream from the Rose Garden. Anybody tells you otherwise is either misinformed or deliberately lying.

Good points. I agree with the negatives. The reason I love trump more then Reagan is because he speaks for us and is getting great judges on the bench.
